Emirates A380
Emirates is adding flights to and from London Gatwick over the next few weeks after agreeing to limit capacity at Heathrow.
Using a Boeing 777, the Dubai-based airline will add a third daily trip from 27 July to 3 August 2022 “to help service high demand,” announced on 22 July 2022.
It will also provide more seats for Emirates passengers affected by capacity changes on flights out of London Heathrow, which would assist reduce operational strains at the airport, Emirates added.
Despite initially rejecting Heathrow’s request to halt ticket sales to relieve the airport’s staffing crisis, Emirates and Heathrow reached an agreement on 15 July 2022 to halt ticket sales on flights departing LHR until the middle of August.
Heathrow Airport has retaliated against airlines that have failed to recruit ground workers to work at airports because of the low wages.
Additionally, “Emirates thanks London Gatwick Airport and other partners on the ground who have been working closely with the airline to secure sufficient ground handling resources to deal with additional demand and provide passengers with a smooth and reliable journey,” the airline said in a statement.
The airline has stated that it will continue to operate its six daily flights to and from London Heathrow and has also confirmed that daily services to London Stansted will resume on 1 August.
