Cunard’s Queen Victoria Gets a Fresh New Chapter at Sea

Cunard is giving Queen Victoria a thoughtful refresh, and for luxury travellers, that is exactly the kind of news worth raising a glass to. The ship returns from dry dock this autumn with a more polished take on classic Cunard style, adding wellness, comfort and a little extra glamour at sea.

A smarter Queen

Queen Victoria will enter dry dock at Damen Shiprepair in Rotterdam from 17 October to 5 November 2026, then return to service on 7 November 2026. The transformation will carry her through the rest of her 2026 programme and into 2027, including voyages across the Mediterranean, the Norwegian Fjords and the Canary Islands.

Signature spaces reimagined

The Grand Lobby will be refreshed to heighten the sense of arrival, while the Queens Room will be reimagined to continue hosting Afternoon Tea, live music and Gala Evenings in true Cunard style. The line’s Grills experience is also being upgraded, with Queens Grill and Princess Grill Suites receiving richer furnishings and more sophisticated detailing.

There is also a practical touch of luxury here: eight additional Britannia staterooms will be added, including three new Britannia Deluxe Oceanview staterooms with floor-to-ceiling windows. Those panoramic views should be catnip for guests who like their sea days with a side of scenery.

Wellness at sea

One of the most interesting additions is The Pavilion Wellness Café, which will debut on Queen Victoria as the third ship in the fleet to carry the concept. The venue will serve breakfast, lunch and daytime dining, with plant-based dishes alongside sustainably sourced meat, fish and dairy.

That makes sense for today’s luxury traveller, who increasingly wants indulgence with a lighter footprint and a stronger wellness angle. It is a sign that Cunard understands modern cruising is no longer just about formality and finesse, but also about how you feel while onboard.
