Vietnam Airlines, a member of the SkyTeam alliance, has announced the launch of a new nonstop route between Hanoi and Milan, starting on 1 July 2025. This new service will make Vietnam Airlines the first and only airline from Vietnam to offer a direct flight to Italy.
Flight Schedule and Aircraft
The new route will operate three times a week, with flights departing from Hanoi on Tuesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays. Vietnam Airlines will utilise its three-class Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft for this route. The Dreamliner is configured to seat 28 passengers in a 1-2-1 business class cabin, 35 in a 2-4-2 premium economy layout, and 211 in a 3-3-3 economy class arrangement.
Expanding European Network
This addition will expand Vietnam Airlines’ network to nine destinations in Europe, including a new service to Munich, which will be launched this October. The airline also plans to introduce a Ho Chi Minh City-Milan route in 2025, further strengthening its presence in the European market.
Growing Demand for Travel
Milan, Italy’s second-largest city, has seen a steady increase in travel demand from Vietnam. In 2023, 37,800 passengers travelled from Milan to Vietnam, marking a 1.4% increase compared to 2019. The first quarter of 2024 saw a 24% rise in passenger numbers compared to the same period in 2019, indicating a growing interest in travel between these two regions.
Enhancing Connectivity
The new Hanoi-Milan route is expected to enhance connectivity for travellers, providing a convenient and efficient option for those looking to explore Italy and beyond. With Vietnam Airlines’ commitment to offering high-quality service and comfort, passengers can look forward to a seamless travel experience.
