Fiji Airways launches direct Nadi–Gold Coast flights
Fiji Airways has launched its first-ever direct service between Nadi International Airport and the Gold Coast, opening a new travel link for Australians, Fijians and long-haul travellers connecting through Fiji. The inaugural flight landed at Gold Coast Airport on 11 June 2026, marking a major milestone for the airline and Queensland’s tourism network.
Operating three times weekly on Mondays, Thursdays and Saturdays, the route is designed to make Fiji a quick tropical escape from the Gold Coast while also strengthening onward access to North America and the wider Pacific. The new service adds more than 53,000 seats annually and becomes Fiji Airways’ seventh Australian destination.
You can book and view fares on the official Fiji Airways website: FijiAirways.com.
A new bridge between Fiji and Queensland
The new route is more than a point-to-point holiday flight. For Gold Coast travellers, it creates an easy gateway to Fiji’s surf, island resorts and warm-weather escapes, with a flight time of just over three hours on the return sector. For Fijians and transit passengers, Nadi now offers smoother one-stop connections to Los Angeles, San Francisco, Vancouver, Honolulu and a range of Pacific and Asian destinations.
That makes the service especially valuable for travellers who want a simple island getaway, as well as for those combining Australia with North American or Pacific itineraries. The Gold Coast also gains another international connection at a time when the region is positioning itself for continued growth ahead of the 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
Onboard experience and aircraft
The route is being operated on the Boeing 737 MAX 8, featuring eight business-class seats and 162 economy seats. Fiji Airways is selling the service as a holiday experience that starts the moment passengers board, with the airline’s signature warm hospitality and award-winning onboard service.
The launch also comes with a limited-time fare sale, giving travellers a chance to lock in introductory pricing for select travel dates between June 2026 and May 2027. That should make the route attractive both for spontaneous short breaks and for forward planners booking school holidays or future family trips.
Why it matters for travel
For Queensland, the new service supports international visitation and strengthens the Gold Coast’s profile as a global leisure destination. For Fiji, it adds another direct access point to Australia and reinforces Nadi’s role as a regional hub linking the South Pacific with major long-haul markets.
In practical terms, the route gives travellers more flexibility, more choice and another easy way to pair a Fiji escape with Australia’s east coast. It is the kind of connection that tends to benefit both tourism and local business, while giving passengers a faster path to the islands.
Plan your trip
Travellers can check schedules, fares and sale fares through the official Fiji Airways website: Fiji Airways. With direct flights now operating between Nadi and the Gold Coast, the holiday corridor between Fiji and Queensland just got a lot easier to use.
