Emirates’ commitment to the Australian market has been reinforced by the news that the airline will soon launch a third daily flight between Dubai, Sydney, and Melbourne.
Starting on March 26, Emirates will boost the number of daily departures to Melbourne from two to three via Singapore, and on May 1, a third direct service will begin to Sydney, linking onward to Christchurch.
The announcement comes as part of Emirates’ strategy to return to pre-pandemic levels by the middle of the year, with plans to increase weekly flights to Australia to as many as 63 and weekly passenger volume to more than 55,000.
“Having the two cities running again at pre-pandemic frequency is a wonderful milestone in our restoration of Australian capacity and testament to our longstanding commitment to flying down under,” said Barry Brown, Emirates’ Divisional Vice President for Australasia.
“We continue to record considerable demand for our services; therefore, we’re committed to providing Australians and travellers with more travel alternatives, like our new Premium Economy cabin,” he concluded.
New flights between Sydney and Melbourne will be operated by Boeing-777 300ERs, providing passengers with a choice of Economy, Business, and First Class cabins. Last week, Emirates also announced introducing an additional daily service from Brisbane to Dubai, bringing the frequency to double daily.
