Virgin Australia Brings International Flight Schedule Forward

Flights between Australia and Fiji will resume one week earlier than previously scheduled, thanks to an announcement from Fiji on their tourism reopening plan.

Flights between Australia and Fiji will begin on December 16 instead of December 23, as initially planned.

As of December 14, the Sydney to Nadi route will be available for travel. On December 17, Melbourne to Nadi will open for travel, and on December 18, both Brisbane and Brisbane will open for travel.

According to a company spokeswoman, these will be the first overseas flights operated by the newly reborn airline.

Our return to Fiji services has been moved up to better coincide with the commencement of the summer vacation period, making it easier for travellers to reach their destination ahead of time.”

Since the Federal Government unveiled the roadmap to reopening Australia to the world earlier this month, we know Australians are eager to finally be able to go overseas again, as evidenced by the tremendous demand for our Fiji flights.

A huge milestone will be reached for the relaunched Virgin Australia and New South Wales people who have spent many of the last few months in lockdown when our debut short-haul international flight to Nadi departs Sydney on December 16, 2021.

As of December 1, Fiji will be welcoming a number of countries, including Australia.

There had been a three-week head start in meeting the country’s 80 per cent vaccination goal.

Several COVID-19 conditions, including being fully vaccinated and having a negative test within 72 hours of departure, must still be met by travellers.

Also included in this plan are New Zealand, Japan, Canada, the South Korean, Singaporean and German governments, and most Pacific Island nations.

Almost two years have passed since Fiji last welcomed foreign tourists, according to Tourism Minister Faiyaz Koya.

“And we’ve fought, we’ve adapted, and we’ve prepared in these two years. Thanks to our national airline, hotels, and tour operators, Fijians are ready to welcome the world back securely.

The travel embargo imposed on countries with double vaccination coverage of at least 80% will expire in November.
