NCL Extends 2026–2027 South Pacific Season
Norwegian Cruise Line is doubling down on close‑to‑home cruising, extending its 2026 and 2027 South Pacific season with more escapes aboard Norwegian Spirit. Travellers can now choose from 8‑ to 13‑day itineraries across Australia, New Zealand, the South Pacific, French Polynesia and the Cook Islands, with extra voyages added between April and December 2027.
You can explore all current South Pacific itineraries on NCL’s site: NCL South Pacific Cruises.
Norwegian Spirit: A Refined, Adults-Focused Way to Island-Hop
Fresh from a major renovation, Norwegian Spirit offers a more intimate experience than many big‑ship rivals, with no kids’ clubs or waterslides and a strong focus on bars, lounges, dining and live entertainment. Guests still enjoy NCL’s signature “freestyle” approach—multiple included and specialty restaurants, flexible dress codes and late‑night venues—just on a ship sized for a quieter, more grown‑up vibe.
This makes Spirit a natural fit for the South Pacific, where longer days in port blend with relaxed sea days spent by the pool, in the spa or at a wine bar, rather than racing between mega‑ship attractions.
Highlight South Pacific Sailings on Norwegian Spirit

Among the extended 2026–2027 programme are several standout itineraries that run just once each season:
- 12‑Day South Pacific: Fiji, Brisbane & Vanuatu
- Date: Departs 30 November 2026 from Lautoka, Fiji to Sydney
- Route: Lautoka – Denarau – Savusavu – Port Vila – at sea – Brisbane – Newcastle – Sydney
- Why it works: Start in Fiji’s resort hub Denarau and waterfall‑rich Savusavu, continue to Vanuatu for blue lagoons and jungle hikes, then finish along Australia’s east coast with time in Brisbane and Newcastle before sailing into Sydney Harbour.
- 11‑Day South Pacific: Fiji, Vanuatu & Lifou
- Date: Departs 23 April 2027 from Sydney to Lautoka, Fiji
- Route highlights: New Caledonia’s Noumea and Lifou, Vanuatu’s Port Vila and Mystery Island, plus four Fijian ports including Savusavu, Suva, Lautoka and Dravuni Island.
- Why it works: Combines French‑influenced Noumea, coral‑rich Amedee Island, traditional village experiences in Lifou, and laid‑back Fijian beaches and gardens into one one‑way voyage, with easy flight options home from Lautoka.
- 8‑Day South Pacific: Rarotonga, Raiatea & Moorea (Round Trip Papeete)
- Dates: Selected departures including 9 June and 22 September 2027
- Route: Papeete (Tahiti) – Rarotonga – Raiatea – Moorea – Papeete
- Why it works: A deeply Polynesian loop through the Cook Islands and French Polynesia, with sacred marae, lagoon‑ringed motus, emerald peaks and turquoise waters made for snorkelling, hiking and slow afternoons. From December 2026, direct Sydney–Papeete flights will make these cruises even easier for Australians to access.
Closer-to-Home Escapes, Better Connected
By keeping Norwegian Spirit in the region through December 2027, NCL is creating a web of open‑jaw and round‑trip itineraries that link home ports such as Sydney, Lautoka, Papeete and Honolulu. For Australians, that means:
- More ways to cruise from or back to home, rather than flying both ways.
- Easier fly–cruise combinations into Tahiti and Fiji as new nonstop routes come online.
- The ability to string together back‑to‑back voyages that reach deeper into the South Pacific, Cook Islands, Hawaii or even Alaska.
This extended deployment effectively turns Norwegian Spirit into a South Pacific specialist for 2026–2027, instead of sending her back to another region after a single summer.
Winter Warmers Sale: Save More and Go “Free at Sea”
To sweeten the deal, NCL is currently running a Winter Warmers Sale on select South Pacific itineraries, including the 30 November 2026 Lautoka–Sydney departure. For a limited time, eligible guests can:
- Save up to $2,500 on select cruises, with fares on that November 2026 sailing starting from around $210 per person, per day (based on double occupancy).
- Upgrade to “Free at Sea” from just $59 per person, per day, unlocking a bundle of perks such as unlimited premium beverages, specialty dining credits, shore‑excursion credit and Wi‑Fi.
When combined with NCL’s existing inclusions—broad dining choices, nightly entertainment and destination‑rich itineraries—the Winter Warmers promotion gives Australians a straightforward way to budget for a nearly all‑inclusive South Pacific escape without overcomplicating the planning.
To view the latest offers and itineraries, head to NCL’s South Pacific page or speak with a cruise‑specialist travel advisor.
If you were to use this extended season for one big South Pacific trip, would you rather cruise Lautoka–Sydney via Fiji and Vanuatu, sail Sydney–Lautoka through New Caledonia and Mystery Island, or fly to Tahiti for that Papeete round trip through the Cook Islands?
