Jetstar Airways has announced new direct flights from Brisbane to Auckland for next year’s Easter school holidays.
The service, which will be operated four times a week by an Airbus A320 aircraft with funding from the Queensland Government’s Aviation Attraction Investment Fund, will attract thousands of Kiwis to the Sunshine State each year, helping local tourist and hospitality industries.
The low-cost carrier’s first return flight will take off on Monday, March 27, 2023, and the route is likely to be popular with tourists and Australian expats living in New Zealand who want to visit family and friends back home.
Stephanie Tully, CEO of Jetstar Group, said it was delighted to introduce a new route that increased Jetstar’s Trans-Tasman network.
“This is the first time we’ve operated direct flights between Brisbane and Auckland, and we’re convinced that this new return service will be highly popular with our customers,” Ms Tully said.
“Queensland gives visitors everything from gorgeous beaches, tropical islands, and the desert to some of Australia’s greatest fine dining and shopping experiences.”
Our incredibly low fares mean that New Zealanders can enjoy those incredible activities more, and we appreciate the Queensland Government for their support of the new route.”
Stirling Hinchliffe, Queensland’s Tourist Minister, stated that New Zealand is essential to Queensland’s international tourism recovery plan.
“Jetstar’s Auckland arrangements are expected to send more than 35,000 Kiwis across the border to Brisbane each year, contributing $44 million and 430 jobs to Queensland’s tourism economy,” Mr Hinchliffe said.
“We know many New Zealand families have family and friends in Southeast Queensland, which is why we’re supporting Jetstar’s new, easy direct flights to Brisbane.”
As one of Queensland’s traditional top five holiday arrivals, we’re pleased to partner with Jetstar to welcome Kiwis to Brisbane for family reunions and world-class visitor experiences.”
With Brisbane temperatures consistently in the high 20s for Easter, it’s the ideal time for New Zealanders to come in from the cold and claim a spot in the warm Queensland sun. “From koalas and island adventures in Moreton Bay to Gold Coast theme parks, Queensland is the place to be for an extended holiday with family and friends this Easter.”
