Meet Hero of the Seas: The Next Icon for Families
Royal Caribbean has unveiled Hero of the Seas, the fourth Icon Class ship and a bold new take on the modern family holiday. Debuting in Miami in August 2027, this “hero of family vacations” combines beach‑day relaxation, resort‑style comforts and theme‑park thrills in one 7‑night escape to the Eastern and Western Caribbean. Bookings are now open on Royal Caribbean’s site at https://www.royalcaribbean.com/cruise-ships/hero-of-the-seas.
Across eight themed neighbourhoods, Hero of the Seas will feature the most pools at sea, a record‑breaking 28 dining venues, cooking classes for all ages and brand‑new family raft slides. Designed for multi‑generational getaways, it also debuts show‑stopping stays like the three‑storey Ultimate Family Treehouse alongside reimagined favourites such as Central Park, Royal Promenade and Absolute Zero, the largest ice arena at sea.
More Ways to Splash, Climb and Play

Water lovers can choose from nine distinct pools, from family zones to adults‑only hideaways. New highlight Coconut Cove pairs an in‑water lounger pool with the tropical Lime & Coconut bar, while The Hideaway ups the ante with two adults‑only pools, the largest swim‑up bar at sea and an in‑water DJ booth for endless summer party vibes. Younger cruisers get upgraded fun too, with expanded Swim & Tonic and refreshed splash features at Splashaway Bay in the Surfside family neighbourhood.
Thrill‑seekers can tackle Category 6, the largest waterpark at sea, now with two new family raft slides including the first funnel raft slide at sea, plus a new spin on the Storm Chasers mat‑racing duo. Crown’s Edge returns to test nerves 154 feet above the ocean, half skywalk and half zip line, while classics like the FlowRider surf simulator, Adrenaline Peak rock wall, mini‑golf and multi‑sport courts keep the competitive spirit alive.
28 Places to Eat, Drink and Learn to Cook

With 28 dining spots on board, Hero of the Seas serves everything from quick poolside bites to fully immersive culinary journeys. New showpiece Orleans Parish Supper Club brings live jazz, gourmet Cajun and Creole dishes and early‑20th‑century New Orleans glamour to sea, while Royal Railway – Hero Station takes guests on a “journey by train”, pairing storytelling, tech and regional menus in themed carriages.
In the family‑centric Surfside neighbourhood, a new hands‑on venue will host cooking classes for all ages, from fun intro recipes for kids to more advanced chopping and baking sessions.
AquaDome Market returns with four new food‑hall stalls plus Crème de la Crêpe desserts and freshly pressed juices at Simply Pressed, backed up by fan favourites such as Izumi, Giovanni’s Italian Kitchen & Wine Bar, Chops Grille, Hooked Seafood, Basecamp, El Loco Fresh and Sorrento’s.
Ultimate Family Stays and Caribbean Itineraries

Families have more ways than ever to stay together in style on Hero of the Seas. The all‑new Ultimate Family Treehouse spans three decks of pure play, with a rooftop terrace and private whirlpool, a two‑level teen hangout and two main bedrooms, each with its own balcony and bathroom.
Other options include the three‑level Ultimate Family Townhouse with direct Surfside access, Surfside Family Suites, Family Infinite Ocean View Balconies and elevated Royal Loft and Icon Loft Suites for those who want extra space and sweeping sea views.
Sailing year‑round from Miami, Hero of the Seas will offer 7‑night Eastern and Western Caribbean adventures, all including a stop at Royal Caribbean’s private island, Perfect Day at CocoCay in The Bahamas. Guests can choose between Western itineraries calling at Roatán plus Cozumel and Costa Maya in Mexico, or Eastern routes to St. Maarten and St. Thomas paired with CocoCay’s waterparks, beaches and overwater cabanas.
