Fiji Airways has introduced a brand-new unbundled price model that will provide travellers with more options and flexibility in economy class.
The fresh concept, dubbed “Fly Your Way,” lets customers choose from four categories of travel, including “Light,” “Value,” “Comfort,” and “Plus.”
While the flexibility offered by each category varies, all options include in-flight meals and drinks, entertainment, and carry-on baggage (7kgs).
Value additions include ticket change and cancellation options, priority and checked luggage, seat preference, and more.
The Fly Your Way branded tickets, which go on sale on 3 March 2023, can be booked via the Fiji Airways website or a travel agent.
The introduction of the new pricing concept coincided with Fiji Airways releasing the findings of a poll that revealed Australians placed the most importance on the ability to change or cancel a reservation.
The survey, commissioned by Fiji Airways, found that 57% of Australians wanted more pricing flexibility, 29% wanted the ability to change their reservation, and 28% wanted refundable tickets.
One in six (16%) travellers valued checked luggage above all else, and one in ten (10%) prioritised pre-selecting their meals, according to a poll of more than 500 Australians.
79% of Australians indicated they intended to go overseas in 2023.
Andre Viljoen, Managing Director and CEO of Fiji Airways, said the Fly Your Way concept gave passengers precisely what they wanted.
“Our research revealed that the ability to change and refund airline tickets is the most critical element for Australian travellers right now, and with our new ‘Fly Your Way’ fare options, passengers can book additional flexibility when travelling with Fiji Airways,” he added.
“Whether travelling light for a weekend trip or bringing the entire family for an annual vacation, Fly Your Way provides the best value for money for all passengers.”
“Our customers have different needs when they travel, whether for business or pleasure and with this new approach, we provide them the option of selecting the product that best meets their needs.”
Over 80% of Australians want to travel this year, 40% are taking their families, 29% are going on vacation with their loved ones, and 17% are doing it alone, as revealed by Viljoen.
One in seven (14% of all travellers) will be vacationing with a large group of friends, while 8% will be on business.
Last Monday, the government of Fiji announced that visitors from outside the country would no longer be required to produce evidence of having been vaccinated against COVID-19 or to have purchased travel insurance.
