2028 Season Built for Deeper Discovery
Azamara Cruises has revealed one of its most destination‑intensive seasons to date, with its spring–fall 2028 lineup designed squarely around longer days and nights in port. Across Europe and Asia, 87% of the deployment will be spent in port, featuring more than 360 late‑night and overnight stays, representing over half of all port days.
This approach reinforces Azamara’s positioning as a specialist in Destination Immersion®, giving guests more time ashore to explore historic quarters, local dining scenes and cultural events beyond typical cruise‑ship hours. The 2028 program also introduces 12 new ports across Europe and Asia, expanding the line’s footprint into emerging and under‑the‑radar destinations.

First-Ever Full Asia Season on Azamara Pursuit

A cornerstone of the 2028 deployment is Azamara’s first full, dedicated Asia season, described by the line as a “defining moment” in its global expansion. Azamara Pursuit will operate 33 Asia sailings, including nine Combination Cruises that link multiple countries into extended journeys.
These itineraries span Japan, South Korea and China, with routes designed to take advantage of smaller ports that larger ships cannot reach, alongside marquee cities and cultural hubs. Longer calls, frequent late departures and overnight stays allow guests to experience night markets, local festivals and coastal scenery at a more relaxed pace.
Robust European Program with Country-Intensive Cruises

Europe remains a pillar of Azamara’s 2028 offering, with 85 cruises across the continent. The program includes 10 Grand Voyages—extended sailings that knit together multiple regions—and 48 country‑intensive itineraries focusing on in‑depth exploration of nations such as Greece, Italy and Croatia.
Country‑intensive cruises typically spend multiple days in one country with several different ports, giving guests a strong sense of regional culture, cuisine and history without constant border‑hopping. Many of these itineraries are also Combination Cruises, offering easy ways to extend a voyage while staying focused on a single country or closely linked region.
12 New Ports Across Europe and Asia
To complement its destination‑heavy approach, Azamara’s 2028 lineup introduces 12 maiden ports in Europe and Asia. Highlights include:
- Caen, France – blending Normandy’s World War II history with access to Mont‑Saint‑Michel and regional gastronomy.
- Delphi (Itea), Greece – gateway to one of Greece’s most significant archaeological sites, high in the Parnassus region.
- Tokushima, Japan – known for its Awa Odori dance festival, coastal scenery and traditional crafts.
- Miyazaki (Aburatsu), Japan – a southern Kyushu port with coastal cliffs, shrines and subtropical landscapes.
Additional maiden calls such as Sokcho in South Korea, Porto Empedocle in Sicily, Dublin (Dún Laoghaire) and Liepāja in Latvia push itineraries further off the well‑trodden path. Collectively, these ports expand the brand’s map while staying true to its “go deeper, not just further” philosophy.
Long Days, Late Nights and Destination Immersion®
A defining feature of the 2028 deployment is the emphasis on time in port rather than days at sea. With over 360 late‑night and overnight stays—about 53% of all port days—guests can enjoy evenings in cities like Tokyo, coastal France or the Greek islands without rushing back to the ship mid‑afternoon.
This supports Azamara’s Extended Destination Days concept: more hours on shore for touring, independent exploration, dining and cultural events, often when crowds have thinned. Many sailings also coincide with local festivals or special events, from cherry blossom seasons in Japan to European cultural celebrations, further amplifying the sense of place.
