Air Canada has revealed its most significant cabin redesign to date, introducing next‑generation Glowing Hearted cabins that promise a distinctly Canadian experience rooted in comfort, care and connection. Debuted at the Aircraft Interiors Expo in Hamburg, the new interiors will first appear on the airline’s Airbus A321XLR and Boeing 787‑10 Dreamliner, before informing upgrades across the wider fleet.
The design is the first major expression of Air Canada’s new Glowing Hearted brand standard and forms a key pillar of its New Frontiers growth strategy, which aims to position the carrier among the world’s leading airlines.
A step‑change for all cabins, not just the pointy end
Air Canada’s Glowing Hearted standard introduces tangible upgrades for every cabin, with a focus on personal space, technology and Canadian‑inspired design. Key enhancements across the new A321XLR and 787‑10 interiors include:
- All‑new ergonomic seats with built‑in tablet holders and larger overhead bins, maximising storage and comfort
- Significantly larger 4K OLED seatback screens for every customer, paired with Bluetooth audio, making it easier to use personal wireless headphones
- High‑powered USB‑C and AC power outlets at every seat, so laptops and devices can stay fully charged throughout the flight
- A refreshed Premium Economy cabin with extended privacy wings, offering a more cocooned, comfortable feel on longer journeys
These changes are designed to make the experience more consistent and premium from Economy through to Signature Class, rather than limiting innovation to the front rows.
Airbus A321XLR – first lie‑flat seats in Canada on a single‑aisle jet

The Airbus A321XLR will be the first aircraft to showcase the new Glowing Hearted cabin, entering service from summer 2026. It also introduces a Canadian first:
- 14 lie‑flat Air Canada Signature Class seats on a single‑aisle aircraft, setting a new benchmark for comfort on narrow‑body long‑haul and transcon routes
This configuration will allow Air Canada to:
- Open up new trans‑Atlantic routes that are better suited to smaller aircraft
- Offer a true lie‑flat premium product on more North America transcontinental flights, blurring the line between wide‑body and single‑aisle comfort

In addition to the lie‑flat Signature seats, all cabins on the A321XLR will feature:
- 4K OLED inflight entertainment screens – 13‑inch in Economy and larger displays in premium cabins
- Bluetooth audio, ergonomic seating and the full Glowing Hearted design language
Technical and seatmap details can be found in Air Canada’s A321XLR factsheet.
Boeing 787‑10 – new Air Canada Signature Plus Suites

When the Boeing 787‑10 joins the fleet, it will debut Air Canada Signature Plus, a new ultra‑premium front‑of‑cabin suite concept designed for customers who want more space, privacy and sociability on long‑haul routes.
Key features of the Signature Plus Suites include:
- A larger 2‑metre / 6’5” fully flat bed
- A quartzite‑topped table and dedicated guest seat, allowing a companion to join for dining or conversation in cruise
- A higher privacy wall and additional storage for personal items
The four Signature Plus Suites at the very front of the aircraft are arranged so that:
- The two centre suites feature fully retractable sliding privacy panels, enabling up to four travellers to interact when desired and then restore privacy for rest
Across the 787‑10 cabin, Air Canada is upgrading inflight entertainment with:
- 4K OLED screens measuring 13‑inch in Economy, 16‑inch in Premium Economy and up to 27‑inch in the premium cabins, all with Bluetooth audio
The new 787‑10 product is aimed squarely at long‑haul business and premium leisure travellers, especially those flying as couples, families or small groups who value both privacy and shared space.
Distinctly Canadian design: Glowing Hearted details

The Glowing Hearted cabin aesthetic is inspired by Canada’s landscapes, materials and design sensibility, with a focus on calm, warmth and quality. Signature design cues across the A321XLR and 787‑10 include:
- Air Canada Signature red stitching and bespoke fabrics, adding subtle national accents to a palette of greys and stone tones
- Natural wood‑grain details paired with bronze metal accents, echoing Canadian forests and modern architecture
- Leather‑grain surfaces and robust metal finishes, chosen for both refined aesthetics and long‑term durability
The sense of welcome begins at the door:
- On the A321XLR, a backlit canopy of maple leaves greets boarding customers, creating an instantly recognisable, Canadian‑themed entryway
- On the 787‑10, premium customers are met by a wave‑like entrance monument inspired by Canada’s waterways, anchored by a bronze Air Canada rondelle emblem
Later this year, Air Canada will reveal complementary upgrades to soft products, including service style, menus and amenity kits, to round out the end‑to‑end Glowing Hearted hospitality experience.
Fleet‑wide upgrades: Rouge, Express and beyond
Beyond the A321XLR and 787‑10, Air Canada is rolling out broader interior and experience upgrades across its North American fleets.
Planned changes include:
- Airbus A320 and A321 aircraft currently flying for Air Canada Rouge will be moved into the mainline fleet and retrofitted with the latest design standard, aligning them with the new Glowing Hearted look and feel
- Boeing 737 MAX aircraft will transition into the Rouge brand in 2026, where they will offer:
- Personal seatback entertainment
- Reclining seats
- Complimentary Fast, Free Wi‑Fi sponsored by Bell
- Air Canada Express aircraft, operated by Jazz Aviation LP, are receiving new cabins and already feature next‑generation Fast, Free Wi‑Fi
These moves mean that customers on leisure and sun routes with Rouge, as well as regional flights, will increasingly enjoy modern interiors, connectivity and entertainment consistent with the mainline experience.
Part of a broader end‑to‑end investment

The cabin redesign is one piece of Air Canada’s wider investment in customer experience, which also spans:
- Modernised and expanded global lounge network, with new or renovated lounges opening across Canada and in Europe
- Upgraded onboard amenities, food and beverage offerings, entertainment and connectivity
- New digital tools aimed at smoothing the journey from booking through to arrival
Together with the Glowing Hearted cabin refresh, these initiatives are being delivered by Air Canada’s 39,000+ employees, who “proudly fly the flag” worldwide.
