The Singapore Airlines (SIA) Group has again proven its industry leadership by clinching two prestigious accolades at the annual Airline Industry Achievement Awards by Air Transport World (ATW) magazine.
Mr Goh Choon Phong, Chief Executive Officer of SIA, was honoured with the Excellence in Leadership Award for 2024. In addition, Scoot, SIA’s low-cost subsidiary, was named Value Airline of the Year. These recognitions follow ATW’s naming of Singapore Airlines as Airline of the Year in 2023.
The ATW Airline Industry Achievement Awards are among the most coveted in the air transport industry. Recipients are selected by a panel of editors and analysts from Aviation Week Network’s ATW, CAPA, and Routes.
Karen Walker, Editor-in-Chief of Air Transport World, praised both airlines for setting global standards for customer service, innovation, operational performance, and employee care. She expressed delight in recognising Mr Goh Choon Phong’s visionary leadership and Scoot’s value proposition.
The Excellence in Leadership Award acknowledges Mr Goh’s significant contributions to the SIA Group and the strong recovery of Singapore Airlines and Scoot from the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic. Under his leadership, both carriers were among the first to resume operations as borders reopened, successfully retaining their leadership positions in the airline industry.
SIA has continued to demonstrate its commitment to a world-class end-to-end customer experience by investing in its network, product and service offerings, and digital capabilities. It has also deepened its strategic presence in India through the impending merger of Air India and Vistara, which will give it a 25.1% stake in an enlarged Air India Group when completed.
Mr Goh Choon Phong expressed gratitude to customers, shareholders, and partners for their strong support. He dedicated the accolade to the entire SIA Group, attributing the success to the exceptional Singapore Airlines family, whose sacrifices, perseverance, and dedication allowed the group to emerge stronger from the pandemic.
Scoot’s recognition as Value Airline of the Year exemplifies its commitment to ensuring customers have a seamless and unique travel experience. The airline continues to expand its network, maintain a trained workforce, and invest in technology to strengthen its infrastructure, drive productivity, and improve the customer experience. This has resulted in record passenger revenue, load factors, and profits for Scoot.
Leslie Thng, Chief Executive Officer of Scoot, expressed honour at the recognition and attributed it to the dedication and hard work of the Scoot family. He affirmed Scoot’s commitment to seeking opportunities, pushing boundaries, and remaining agile and innovative as they embark on their next growth phase.
