While the Aerotrain connecting Kuala Lumpur International’s main terminal to the satellite concourse remains out of operation, flag carrier Malaysia Airlines announced this week that it will launch an exclusive private transfer service for business class and status guests.
From 1 February, Malaysia Airlines business suite, business class, and Enrich Platinum passengers may use all-electric private BMW i7 transfers when they depart from KLIA.
The 24-hour service will not be offered to oneworld Emerald status holders or passengers flying on any carrier other than Malaysia Airlines.
The BMW transfers will be in addition to the airport operator’s present Premium Bus transfer (for first and business-class customers) following the temporary suspension of Aerotrain service.
Solo travellers and couples will be assigned their dedicated car; each car has a maximum capacity of four passengers.
During the initial phase, this transfer service will only be available to departing passengers who can proceed to gate G1 in the main terminal building where the transfers will leave from.
Currently, Malaysia Airlines is in the process of building an arrivals lounge in the satellite terminal. The goal is to expand the service to include private BMW transports in the other direction.
Ahmad Luqman Mohd Azmi, chief executive officer of Malaysia Aviation Group (MAG), said, “With this exclusive service, we aim to enhance the travel experience for our top-tier customers, ensuring that they can enjoy premium comfort as part of their end-to-end journey with us.”
“As the only carrier offering this temporary personalised service to our passengers in light of Aerotrain’s temporary suspension at KLIA Terminal 1, it underscores our dedication to elevating our standards of service to ensure a premium travel experience while also reinforcing our commitment to embedding sustainable practices with the selection of the all-electric BMW i7 series. We look forward to extending this service to our arriving passengers as part of our continuous efforts to ensure a fuss-free and enjoyable experience driven by our inimitable Malaysian Hospitality.”
