Singapore Airlines announced that from 27 October 2024, it will add a new daily flight from Sydney to Singapore, departing at 0645 AM, with the company saying that this will be available throughout the six-month Northern Winter season, subject to regulatory approvals.
This new additional flight means Sydney Airport will become the largest port in the airline’s network from Changi Airport, with more than 12,000 seats available for passengers each week. It also brings SQ’s schedule back up to pre-pandemic levels.
During the Christmas season, from 2 December to 14 January, the airline also offers a fifth daily supplementary service.
Low-cost carrier Scoot, a subsidiary of Singapore Airlines, is also increasing its capacity and will begin offering 12 weekly return flights between Sydney and Singapore in December.
“Sydney Airport is proud to be Singapore Airlines’ home away from home,” said Geoff Culbert, CEO of Sydney Airport, “and it is clear that Sydneysiders can’t get enough of their world-class service.”
“Not only will this extra flight from Singapore Airlines offer Australians heading overseas more choice, but it will also help boost the number of visitors, especially from Asia and Europe.”
2024 will be a bumper year for international travel at Sydney Airport, with extra capacity coming online not just from Singapore but also from other key markets, including China and Indonesia.
