Etihad Airways, the national airline of the United Arab Emirates, has delivered on its pledge of expansion and enhanced connectivity by launching service to three major destinations.
First flights to Dusseldorf, Germany (DUS) began on 28 September, followed by Copenhagen, Denmark (CPH) on 29 September and Osaka, Japan (KIX) on 1 October.
Meanwhile, the airline announced an increase in flight frequency to the popular cities of Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia (KUL) and Colombo, Sri Lanka (CMB).
The flights are part of a package of new routes and increased frequencies designed to meet customer demand for more opportunities to visit Abu Dhabi and improve Etihad’s growing global network.
Etihad Airways chief executive officer Antonoaldo Neves stated that the new aircraft are the next significant stage in expanding the airline’s network, providing guests greater connectivity and fulfilling their demand for more travel options to Abu Dhabi.
“We are contributing to the acceleration of the city’s economic growth by providing more travel options and seamless connections, making it easier for guests to visit Abu Dhabi as a destination or as a stopover while exploring our expanding global network.”
Etihad will introduce nine new destinations this year, including Malaga, Mykonos, Lisbon, Kolkata, St. Petersburg, Dusseldorf, Copenhagen, Osaka, and Boston. In addition, the airline launched new routes to Kozhikode and Thiruvananthapuram on the Indian Subcontinent in January 2024.
