REX Welcomes Their Eighth B737 Jet  To Their Fleet

Rex Airlines has just taken the delivery of the ninth Boeing 737-800NG aircraft in its fleet. The plane took a ferry flight from Changi Airport in Singapore, where it had been undergoing a routine heavy maintenance inspection and painting and landed in Brisbane late on Friday night.

The plane, which will be put into service next month and given the registration number VH-8JS, will allow the airline to inaugurate a new route between Adelaide and Brisbane on 30 October.

This most recent addition to the fleet closely follows Rex’s eighth Boeing 737-800NG, which began service on 15 August. It will enable Rex further to grow its domestic presence throughout Australia’s capital cities. There are currently ten domestic routes offered by Rex, linking major cities and popular tourist spots in five different states.

Based on the availability of aircraft, Rex plans to increase the size of its domestic fleet by two more Boeing 737-800NG planes by the end of the current financial year.

“Australians are crying out for an airline like Rex that has over 20 years of safe, reliable service delivered with heartfelt country hospitality and integrity,” Rex Deputy Chairman, the Hon John Sharp AM said.

“Besides being consistently Australia’s most reliable airline, we are proud that during COVID, we refunded every passenger who requested a COVID-related refund. We even sent six reminders to travel agents, asking them to initiate refunds for passengers who booked directly through them.

“We did not sell tickets for phantom flights in a bid to enhance cash flow. We also did not retrench any staff during COVID. On the contrary, we were aggressively recruiting for our domestic operation. We do not ever gouge our passengers even on routes where we are the

sole operator and we do not squat on valuable airport slots by gaming the system,” added Mr Sharp.

“We are confident that with the continued growth of our network, more and more Australians will experience and switch to the only true Australian carrier they can trust and rely on.” Mr Sharp added.

Rex is Australia’s largest independent regional and domestic airline, operating a fleet of 58 Saab 340 and 9 Boeing 737-800NG aircraft to 57 destinations throughout all states in Australia.
