Cunard has a variety of coronation-themed events scheduled aboard all three of its Queens to celebrate the historic crowning of His Majesty, The King and Her Majesty, The Queen Consort.
Guests on the Queen Mary 2, Queen Victoria, and Queen Elizabeth will be able to fully immerse themselves in the regal celebrations by participating in a variety of activities, such as a street party in the ship’s imposing Grand Lobby or watching a movie or taking a quiz with a royal theme.
Inspired by King Charles’s passion for farming, agriculture, game, and organic principles, a special Coronation dinner menu was crafted for the evening of Saturday, 6 May. The menu was created carefully to highlight some of his favourite foods and flavours and serve as a fitting tribute to this historic event.
A “Coronation Oath” prepared with Prosecco, White Vermouth, Grapefruit and Cardamom Bitters, and a “Monarch Martini” created with Cunard’s 3 Queens Gin will be among the specially crafted drinks offered to honour Their Majesties The King and The Queen Consort.
On the big day, all three ships will be at sea and air, a live broadcast of the ceremony from Westminster Abbey on the Royal Court Theatre screens and in-room TVs. The guests of the Queen Elizabeth will have just begun a nine-night cruise of Southern Japan and Taiwan, during which they will see places such as the breathtakingly gorgeous island of Hualien and the charming tropical paradise of Miyakojima. In contrast, the guests of the Queen Victoria will have just returned from a twelve-night voyage of the Canary Islands.
This week, Cunard announced that the Queen Mary 2 would make a new Coronation Celebration voyage from Southampton to Liverpool on 2 May.
Royal commentator Dickie Arbiter, historian Caroline Aston, and etiquette expert Grant Harrold will all be featured in Cunard’s fleet-wide Insights programme.
The Prince’s Trust, a long-time charitable partner of Cunard’s since the Queen Consort was designated godmother to Queen Victoria in 2007, will also benefit from a deck walk on each ship in recognition of The Big Help Out on Monday, 8 May.
This historic milestone will be commemorated on a memorable British Isles voyage in August. Cunard has raised almost $3.37 million for the Trust to date due to the generosity of guests, crew, and friends. Through employment, education, and enterprise, the charity assists young people who have faced disadvantages and adversity in building a better future for themselves.
Cunard’s royal connections date back to August 1861, when Prince Alfred embarked on Cunard’s SS Arabia from Halifax to Liverpool. Cunard is especially pleased that royal family members have graced every ship in its current fleet.
