Scenic’s second ultra-luxury adventure vessel, Scenic Eclipse II, has successfully completed her sea trials.
The company said in a statement that the vessel ” was put through its paces” during the course of two-weekend sessions in February in the northern Adriatic between Croatia and Italy.
The 114-suite ship has returned to its shipyard in Rijeka, Croatia, to finish the last construction steps before its first cruise, an 11-day voyage from Lisbon to Barcelona named Incredible Iberian Discovery, which departs on 13 April.
Then, in early June, a ceremony in Malaga will give the ship its name. It will do what Scenic Eclipse did when it was launched last summer.
When Scenic Eclipse II goes into service in 2023 and 2024, the cruise line will sail to more than 50 countries on all seven continents.
James Griffiths, vice president of marine operations for Scenic, said, “Scenic Eclipse II was built to the highest standards, and it’s great to see the discovery yacht sail through the sea trials and exceed all expectations.” The countdown to launch has officially started.
It is the benchmark in ultra-luxury cruising brought to a new level and is nearly identical to her sister ship, with a few specific additions. She will spend the summer season visiting the Mediterranean, Iceland, and Scotland before going on to warmer waters in the Caribbean and Antarctica.
Recent announcements by Scenic Group detail their intentions to begin hosting familiarisation voyages onboard their newest vessels.
