Oceania Cruises has reached exciting new milestones with the christening of its newest ship, Oceania Allura, in a spectacular ceremony held in Miami on November 13, 2025, and the unveiling of an exclusive sneak peek of the upcoming Oceania Sonata, set to debut in August 2027. Marking a fresh chapter for the luxury cruise line, these events underscore Oceania’s commitment to excellence in culinary experiences, spacious accommodations, and innovative ship design.
The Oceania Allura christening ceremony was unlike any other, as six renowned chefs from the Food & Wine Best New Chefs franchise—Tavel Bristol-Joseph, Katie Button, Calvin Eng, Aisha Ibrahim, George Mendes, and Lawrence “LT” Smith—collectively served as godparents.

This first-of-its-kind godparent collaboration highlighted Oceania’s rich culinary heritage and its partnership with Food & Wine magazine. The ceremony included the traditional breaking of a Champagne bottle over the ship’s bow, bestowing good fortune on the ship and guests.
The 1,200-guest Oceania Allura impresses with the most spacious standard staterooms at sea, 12 onboard dining venues, and an inaugural season exploring over 92 destinations on cruises ranging from 7 to 34 days. The luxury vessel will also sail a full winter Mediterranean season in 2027-28, further expanding Oceania’s appeal to discerning travellers.
Adding to the excitement, Oceania Cruises revealed a glimpse of the upcoming Oceania Sonata, the first in a new Sonata Class of four ships designed to elevate luxury cruising even further. Scheduled to set sail in August 2027, the Oceania Sonata will offer 1,390 guests a more spacious and amenity-rich experience, with suites comprising 30% of accommodations.
It will feature two brand-new suite categories, reimagined Owner’s Suites, and all staterooms will boast private, spacious verandas. Culinary options will include 10 dining venues such as the Grand Dining Room, French restaurant Jacques, pan-Asian Red Ginger, Polo Grill steakhouse, and Toscana Italian specialties. This innovative new class embodies Oceania’s vision for exceptional cuisine, service, and immersive travel experiences at sea.
Oceania Cruises’ Chief Luxury Officer Jason Montague emphasised the significance of these milestones: “It is only fitting that Oceania Allura was christened in our hometown of Miami—a city that embodies vibrancy and sophistication.
Celebrating alongside such distinguished godparents marks an exciting new chapter in our collaboration with Food & Wine. Meanwhile, Oceania Sonata embodies our vision for the future—defined by exquisite cuisine, exceptional service, and transformative travel experiences”. For travellers seeking the pinnacle of luxury cruising with a focus on culinary excellence and immersive journeys, Oceania Cruises’ Oceania Allura and Sonata promise unforgettable voyages that redefine cruise sophistication.
