United Airlines is set to make waves in the travel industry with its largest international expansion ever, introducing service to eight new cities for the Summer 2025 schedule. This ambitious move will see United offering more flights to more destinations across the Atlantic than any other U.S. airline, solidifying its position as the world’s largest airline.
New Destinations
Starting in May 2025, United will launch new nonstop flights from its Newark/New York hub to:
- Nuuk, Greenland
- Palermo, Italy
- Bilbao, Spain
- Madeira Island, Portugal
- Faro, Portugal
Additionally, three new nonstop routes will be introduced from Washington D.C./Dulles, including:
- Dakar, Senegal (year-round)
- Nice, France (seasonal)
- Venice, Italy (seasonal)
United will also add new direct flights from Tokyo-Narita to:
- Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia
- Kaohsiung, Taiwan
- Koror, Palau
Unprecedented Transatlantic Schedule
United’s Summer 2025 transatlantic schedule will be its largest ever, with more than 760 weekly flights to over 40 destinations. This includes increased frequencies to popular destinations such as Venice, Italy; Athens, Greece; and Barcelona, Spain. The airline will also boost the number of weekly direct flights between Newark/New York and Palma de Mallorca, Spain; Dubrovnik, Croatia; and Athens, Greece.
Unique Travel Experiences
United’s expansion offers a wide range of unique travel experiences:
- Nuuk, Greenland: Twice weekly seasonal service to the northernmost capital in the world, perfect for arctic adventures and wildlife exploration.
- Palermo, Italy: Three-times weekly seasonal service to Sicily, featuring rich history, luxurious beaches, and stunning architecture.
- Bilbao, Spain: Nonstop service to the Spanish Basque Country, home to the iconic Guggenheim Museum and famous Basque cuisine.
Enhanced Connectivity
United’s new routes will seamlessly connect travellers to a variety of destinations, offering unparalleled access to unique international experiences. The airline’s extensive network will provide 800 daily flights to and from 147 international destinations, including 40 nonstop routes that no other U.S. airline serves.
