Rex revealed that real-time bidding for an upgrade to Business Class would be introduced on its domestic flight services. Passengers booked in the economy cabin will be invited seven days before departure to bid on a Business Class upgrade. Bidders will be free to revise their offers if they are outbid, giving themselves the best chance of securing an upgrade.
“Everyone appreciates an update. This new gamification aspect in the bidding process will be a fun and cost-effective way for our economy customers to experience our incredible business class product and service,” stated Michael Venus, Rex’s Director of Media and External Relations.
The project is one of a series of passenger upgrades implemented before the airline’s new loyalty program’s forthcoming debut.
This will involve the launch of a new or expanded lounge in Adelaide, Brisbane, Sydney, and Melbourne, as well as introducing a neighbour-free seating offering in the Economy class across the airline’s domestic and regional networks.
Minimum bidding across the airline’s domestic network will begin as low as $10 as part of a special introductory deal to launch the Rex Bid Up programme.
