Oceania Cruises, the world’s leading culinary and destination-focused cruise line, has announced that its 1,250-passenger ship, Marina, will be completely refurbished in May 2024.
Aquamar Kitchen, the new wellness-focused dining venue that debuted on Vista this year; an expanded poolside ice cream parlour serving milkshakes and smoothies, as well as inventive flavours from artisan ice cream company Humphry Slocombe; and a new casual al fresco trattoria offering sumptuous Italian dishes, including freshly made pizzas, will be added as part of the refurbishment.
Marina is the last ship in Oceania Cruises’ current fleet to be refurbished, giving the line eight new or better-than-new ships. Allura, its eighth ship, will debut in the spring of 2025.
“Marina is a ship designed by foodies, built by foodies, for foodies,” said Oceania Cruises President Frank A. Del Rio. “We are renowned for serving The Finest Cuisine at Sea, and this is more than a tagline; it is a business mantra upon which we have built our business.” “Food is the foundation of what we do on each of our ships and in the destinations we visit around the world.” Marina will be refurbished to include three exciting new dining venues. We are especially thrilled to expand the Aquamar Kitchen concept to Marina, following its incredible reception from guests since it was unveiled aboard Vista in May.”
Marina and her sister Riviera were the first real culinary ships in the world, and Vista and Allura joined them. Marina and Riviera were the first ships to include an onboard cooking school, as well as the most galley space and fresh food storage of any ship. Oceania Cruises boasts the most significant proportion of culinary professionals dedicated to the dining experience of any cruise line. To ensure the highest meal quality, the line has one chef for every ten guests; half the workforce onboard is dedicated to food preparation or service.
Aquamar Kitchen will be one of the significant culinary additions to Marina. This new Oceania Cruises trademark restaurant serves wellness-inspired dishes with indulgence that will please even the most discerning palate.
The beverage menu will include a range of premium, award-winning non-alcoholic wines, Pierre Zero from France, and a delightful array of mocktails made with Lyre’s non-alcoholic spirits to complement the wellness-inspired cuisine. The Aquamar Kitchen, like all other onboard restaurants, will be open for breakfast and lunch and will not require reservations.
Waves Grill will turn into an al fresco trattoria in the evening, serving baked pizzas, succulently grilled Italian specialities, spicy dry-rubbed chicken wings, tantalising salads, rosemary focaccia with lush burrata, and luscious desserts.
An all-day ice cream parlour will be added on the pool deck for guests with a sweet tooth. It surely will entice guests for an afternoon poolside treat since it is filled with favourite flavours, including Humphry Slocombe options, milkshakes, and smoothies.
Oceania Cruises’ signature pairing meals presented in La Reserve will now be available in Privée, Marina’s premium private dining room, with the arrival of Aquamar Kitchen. This intimate venue will host culinary aficionados for La Reserve’s long-standing popular pairing meals, such as the Odyssey Menu and the Dom Pérignon Experience.
In addition to the three new dining options, Marina’s private and public spaces will be refreshed to exhibit a bright, unique atmosphere. All upper suites will be reimagined with a revamped look to become lighter, brighter, and seemingly even more spacious thanks to cleverly designed new features. Polo Grill, a classic steakhouse, will also get new flooring, stylish window treatments, and new dining chairs.
The Penthouse Suites will be totally renovated, with custom-made furnishings, new closets and cabinetry to increase guest storage space, new carpets and upholstery, updated contemporary lighting, and thoughtful features like extra outlets and USB connections. Each Penthouse Suite will include a sleek, restyled bathroom with distinctive Italian marble throughout, plenty of drawer space, and large showers, providing the beautiful residential luxury for which Oceania Cruises is renowned.
Martinis, Horizons, The Grand Dining Room, and the Library will be elegantly refurbished with luxurious new carpets and refreshed upholstery, reflecting a renewed sense of grandeur while keeping the home-away-from-home ambience.
The refurbished ship will debut on 18 May 2024, and while it will undergo significant cosmetic changes, rest assured that one aspect will remain constant and unchanged: Oceania Cruises’ trademark warm and personalised service. Whether guests are sailing for the first time or the fifteenth time, they will notice how easily the staff remembers their names and preferences and the genuine smiles and enthusiasm that can only come from the heart.
