During her 119-day World Cruise on Monday, MSC Poesia made her first stop in Sydney. Only the MSC Magnifica (2019 and 2020) and MSC Orchestra (2015 only) have previously visited Australia from the cruise line.
Both the Poesia and her sister ship, the Magnifica, set sail from Genoa on 5 January on round-the-world cruises, but after starting their voyages together, they split off at the Mediterranean’s edges to take distinct paths.
MSC has planned events on Monday to celebrate the ship’s first visit to Sydney, and visits of the ship are given to media and travel agents so that they can get a feel for the cruise line’s distinctive facilities.
Commercial Director Lisa Teiotu said, “We are happy to welcome MSC Poesia into Sydney,” adding that “having a ship in port gives a tremendous opportunity for our trade partners and media to experience our Mediterranean hospitality.”
The stop in Sydney on Monday preceded Poesia’s first call in Brisbane, and she will be in Cairns on Friday.
15 March sees the Magnifica dock in Hobart. Poesia also made her maiden call to Auckland last week.
