The first cruise ship of the new InTUItion class, Mein Schiff Relax, made its first touch with seawater last Monday, 27 November. After the flood valves at the Fincantieri shipyard in Monfalcone were activated, around 130 million litres of water surged into the dock, ensuring a successful float—an important milestone.
According to the ancient tradition of Christian seafaring, Roberto Benvenuto, the shipyard’s parish priest, blessed the ship with prayers and holy water. Elena Sperti, the shipyard’s godmother, smashed a bottle of Prosecco on the hull of Mein Schiff Relax, an Italian tradition to evoke the good luck of the ship and all those who will sail on it once it floats.
Wybcke Meier, CEO of TUI Cruises, switched on the valves alongside Cristiano Bazzara, Director of the Fincantieri shipyard. “Floating Mein Schiff Relax with the blessing of the priest and the best wishes of Madrina, the shipyard’s godmother, was new and very special for us.” It is as new and unique as the first ship in the new InTUItion ship class. “We are happy with the progress we can see here because Mein Schiff Relax is on its way to becoming a new feel-good ship for couples, families, and solo travellers,” says Wybcke Meier, CEO of TUI Cruises.
A wide range of moments of enjoyment with Mein Schiff’s premium inclusive services
Mein Schiff Relax offers guests many innovations that elevate relaxation and enjoyment to a new level. Guests on cruises can enjoy a unique assortment of restaurants and bars: The main restaurant with service at the seat finds a new location on the ship under the well-known name Atlantik. Particularly spacious and with a fabulous view, this restaurant, with an adjoining bar, offers exquisite, multi-course menus for lunch and dinner on two decks in the stern. For breakfast, guests can enjoy their meals at their seats or combine their favourite dishes from the buffet.
The popular Osteria – Pizza e Pasta on the Mein Schiff Relax also serves Italian delicacies. Fans of the buffet restaurant will also recognise it as Harbour Market. Of course, fun on the pool deck should not be overlooked. As a result, there will be two featured bistros serving a variety of cuisines for both young and old. With its distinctive French approach to life, the French Sur Mer Bistrot is also new on board. And, by popular demand, the Greek Taverna Dionysos has indoor and outdoor areas.
Suppose you want to treat yourself to very special moments of pleasure. In that case, you will find an extraordinary selection of outstanding exclusive restaurants on Mein Schiff Relax: tender steak dishes in the Høfde, alpine cuisine in the chalet, innovative highlights in the Asian Fugu with matching dishes from the pen of Tim Raue and an aperitif or drink at the end of a beautiful day on board, a good drop of wine with the best view in the bow in the exclusive Captain’s Bar.
Experience open space in a new way with private staterooms and big decks for more relaxation.
Regular guests and new cruise enthusiasts may enjoy plenty of freedom and a diverse gastronomic selection. Mein Schiff Relax will now provide accommodations for solo travellers in the interior, exterior, and balcony staterooms for the first time. The extensive public outdoor spaces, such as the Mistral Deck, Pool Deck with the popular 25-meter pool, and Agora area with the new infinity pool, are fantastic for relaxing and unwinding.
Holidays for the entire family
To ensure that even the youngest guests can make Mein Schiff Relax their unique holiday paradise, there is, as on all ships in the fleet, the Island of the Pirates, the Kids Club, where dedicated supervisors offer programmes tailored to the wishes and needs of different age groups.
And, of course, what should not be missing from the Mein Schiff fleet is a special place where guests can say goodbye to the port after an eventful day. The new meeting point on Mein Schiff Relax is Bar 17, which includes a variety of drinks and far-sightedness.
