A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been struck between Emirates and Gulf Air to expand commercial collaboration between the two airlines.
The MoU will lay the groundwork for possible codeshare cooperation between Emirates and Gulf Air, as well as reciprocal loyalty benefits on Emirates’ Skywards and Gulf Air’s Falconflyer, and cargo cooperation is also being discussed.
The MoU will lay the groundwork for possible code-share collaboration between Emirates and Gulf Air, extending reciprocal loyalty benefits on Emirates’ Skywards and Gulf Air’s Falconflyer.
Cargo cooperation discussions are also going to take place.
Both airlines will benefit from their new agreement, which was signed on the opening day of the Dubai Airshow. Emirates Airline President Sir Tim Clark and Gulf Air Acting Chief Executive Officer Captain Waleed Al Alawi signed the Memorandum of Understanding. Members of each airline’s top management teams were also present at the signing event.
If you’re flying on Emirates or Gulf Air-operated flights, you’ll have the option of purchasing only one ticket and having your luggage checked in once at your ultimate destination. Gulf Air and Emirates will both begin using the “EK” marketed code on flights between Bahrain and Dubai, while Gulf Air will begin using the “GF” marketed code on flights operated by Emirates.
Customers will benefit from this code-share arrangement by having more options, more convenient schedules, and more flexibility to travel between Dubai and Bahrain and beyond to locations in our wide long-haul network,” Emirates Airline President Sir Tim Clark said. Today’s agreement is a great milestone in our cooperation, and we are on the path to further strengthening our connection in the future,” we said in a joint statement.
One of the first Gulf airlines and one of the world’s largest carriers have come together to form a unique partnership, according to Gulf Air’s Acting CEO. As a result of our partnership with Emirates, we will offer our boutique services to Emirates’ customers who travel on our network, while also expanding our reach. With this partnership, travellers will be able to choose from a wider selection of flights between Bahrain and Dubai.”
Once the code-share is activated, customers will book their travel with both airlines on emirates.com and gulfair.com, through online travel agencies as well as with local travel agents.
