The Costa Cruises ship Carnival Venezia has joined the fleet of Carnival Cruise Line.
At Cadiz, Captain Tihomir Muzic transferred command of the Venezia to her new captain, Claudio Cupisti, before the ship set sail on its 15-day transatlantic Carnival Journeys voyage from Barcelona on 29 May.
On 15 June, she will begin year-round sailings from the Manhattan Cruise Terminal in New York City. With 22 distinct itineraries visiting 25 ports in 14 countries, cruise-goers may choose from various holiday options.
“We are pleased to welcome Carnival Venezia to the fleet, which will debut as our first ‘Fun Italian Style’ ship this May following a dry dock,” said President Christine Duffy. “A huge thank you to everyone from our sister line Costa and everyone in the Carnival family who will work hard over the next two months to add the Carnival touches to this ship.”
Venezia will bring many new food and beverage options to the Carnival fleet. Guests will be able to indulge in La Strada Grill, which serves traditional Italian street food; Tomodoro, a Mexitalian fusion restaurant; and Frizzante, which serves a selection of bubbly drinks, including prosecco, spritzes and bellinis, along with Italian beer, authentic Italian coffees, and biscotti.
The ship will also feature new Italian-inspired entertainment spaces, including the Amari Bar and the Gondola Lounge, designed with the famous Venetian canals in mind. The Carnevale Bar & Lounge celebrates the elegance of Venetian masks.
Additionally, the ship will feature new activities, such as the Captain’s Venetian Toast and an Italian-inspired youth programme.
