Sir Richard Branson personally hosted the sail away party as the third vessel in the Virgin Voyages fleet, Resilient Lady, set sail from Melbourne to Hobart Monday for her inaugural season in Australia. The voyage will take five days from Melbourne to Hobart.
Following an exclusive media event, the founder of the Virgin Group threw a party on the ship’s top pool deck, where he bid farewell to guests with a jubilant Champagne toast.
At the press conference, he spoke about his enthusiasm for the new chapter in Australian history as well as the cruise line’s long-term plans in the South Pacific.
“It was great to be in Melbourne, a vibrant city that matches the vibe of Virgin Voyages,” he said.
“Australia has always held a special place in my heart, and I’m so thankful for the warm welcome Australia has provided us. We are so excited to show you Resilient Lady and are determined to make waves Down Under with this new way of cruising.”
This summer, Virgin Voyages will embark on 17 voyages in Australia, with the first one having just departed.
The first season of the adults-only Resilient Lady includes voyages to places including the southern coast of Australia, the fjords of New Zealand, and Tasmania, ranging in length from two to fourteen nights.
For the discerning travellers who embarked on this maiden voyage, the Resilient Lady promises a plethora of captivating encounters, both on board and at the enchanting destinations awaiting her arrival. As the ship navigates the pristine waters en route to Tasmania, guests can immerse themselves in the remarkable beauty of the Australian coastline while indulging in a myriad of exclusive experiences tailored to enhance their journey.
With nine more ports of call, Virgin Voyages has already scheduled a second season of sailings between Australia and New Zealand, beginning in December 2024.
