Disney Wonder - Photo: Disney Cruise Line
As the cruise season in Australia is heating up last Saturday, 28 October, Disney Cruise Line made history with the first-ever departure of the Disney Wonder from Sydney. Hobart, Tasmania, and two full days at sea are part of this ship’s debut itinerary, which lasts four nights.
This inaugural season of “Disney Magic at Sea” voyages showcases the growing popularity of Disney Cruise Line and the rising cruising profile in Australia and New Zealand.
From Sydney, Melbourne, and Brisbane, the Disney Wonder will provide cruises of 2-6 nights’ duration. Select sailings will also depart from Auckland, New Zealand.
The diversity of homeports will allow more Australian tourists to experience the magic of a Disney cruise while serving as indicators for the line’s success Down Under.
Ports of call include Hobart, Tasmania; Nouméa, New Caledonia; and Eden, Australia, among others, depending on departure date and voyage duration. Many itineraries either do not visit any ports of call or go-between homeports without making any stops.
With Tinker Bell as godmother and Steamboat Willie, the fabled mermaid Ariel, and Donald Duck and his nephews adorning the bow, atrium, and aft of the ship, respectively, the 84,130-gross-ton Disney Wonder joined the fleet in 1999.
Funnel Vision movies, the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique, the Twist ‘n’ Spout waterslide, the Senses Spa & Salon, pools, and Mickey’s Splash Zone are just a few of the many attractions available to guests onboard.
More than 900 international cast members are on board the Disney Wonder to provide truly magical service and experiences to all 2,400 guests.
