The highly anticipated introduction of Virgin Voyages’ third ship, Resilient Lady, coincides with the beginning of the European summer season. With the addition of the Resilient Lady to the fleet, Richard Branson’s cruise line will be able to offer passengers a wider variety of attractive summer holiday options from its new homeport in Athens, Greece.
The ships of Virgin Voyages were inspired by superyacht design, bringing glamour to the high seas with spaces created by world-famous architects and designers like Tom Dixon and Concerte Amsterdam. They were built specifically for passengers aged 18 and up. With menus selected by Michelin-starred chefs, the event has rapidly become a foodies’ paradise, with dishes inspired by these new Mediterranean locations.
On 14 May 2023, Resilient Lady made her debut. The “Greek Island Glow” itinerary, which starts from Athens and includes stops in Santorini, Rhodes, Bodrum, and an overnight in Mykonos before returning to Athens, is featured on the seven-night MerMaiden journey (14-21 May).
The “Adriatic Sea & Greek Gems” itinerary is also new for the season. It takes passengers to some of the Adriatic Sea’s most spectacular locations along the coast of Croatia, the beautiful islands of Greece, and a bay in the Balkans. A late night in Dubrovnik is included in the voyage’s itinerary.
Sir Richard Branson has stated that “Virgin Voyages” provides an “amazing experience” and has been recognised by hundreds of thousands of satisfied guests with accolades for service, food, design, entertainment, and more. We’ve shown that we can provide you with the holiday of your dreams. Now I can’t wait to show off our beautiful new Resilient Lady in one of the world’s most magical places as she cruises the Aegean Sea and the coasts of Greece, Croatia, Turkey, and more.
The CEO of Virgin Voyages, Tom McAlpin, is thrilled that the day has arrived and that the Resilient Lady has joined the company’s fleet of award-winning ships. “Even though we just set sail a few years ago, we’ve already won the most prestigious honours in the tourism business. Up to forty percent of our guests book their next cruise with us while they’re still on board. This summer, I’m looking forward to sharing the five-star experience of voyaging on the Resilient Lady with even more guests, who I know will adore it as much as they did aboard the Scarlet Lady and the Valiant Lady. “
Along with visiting new ports of call, the Resilient Lady will debut incredible new entertainment thanks to its Creative Collective of the world’s best producers, including Randy Weiner (of Sleep No More and Queen of the Night), House of Yes, and MISCHIEF. These include five new shows, two new soirées in The Manor, exclusive onboard parties, more live music acts, and a festival stage with rotating performances.
Virgin Voyages is introducing not just fresh kinds of entertainment but also new kinds of food and drinks. Chef Eric Haugen worked with us to create the cuisine for Razzle Dazzle After Dark. Launching with Resilient Lady is “Opa Hour,” a nod to the Greek happy hour culture. Opa Hour, which will be held in the Dock and Dock House on all three ships, will include a menu of dishes and drinks with a Greek twist.
Virgin Voyages has teamed up with two non-profits, All for Blue and Urban Act, to fulfil the brand’s mission of making “an Epic Sea Change for All.” These partnerships seek to spread the word about the value of ecotourism and ocean preservation through various mediums, such as the brand’s participation in underwater and community clean-ups and the creation of murals in Athens and the Greek Islands.
After its first season in Greece, the Resilient Lady will go on an ocean voyage across the continents to Australia. The Australian Cruise season will begin at Station Pier in Port Melbourne, Victoria, on 11 December 2023 and sail through Australia and New Zealand until 27 March 2024.
