Qantas Announces New Service To Jakarta

Qantas has announced that it will begin serving the Melbourne to Jakarta route with direct international flights. Starting on 16 April 2023, Qantas will offer a thrice-weekly service using their A330 aircraft.

The new service will increase capacity between Australia and Indonesia by more than 6,600 seats per month, provided by the regulatory clearance of the new service.

Qantas expects passengers who need to connect to other cities in Indonesia, including Surabaya or Medan, would also be interested in this route.

Since borders reopened, Qantas has also begun service to Delhi and Dallas-Fort Worth from Melbourne.

Qantas Domestic and International CEO Andrew David said, “Victoria is a critically important part of our network, and we are seeing high demand for travel to and from Melbourne.”

As well as providing a new entry point for tourists interested in seeing the region, “we expect these flights to be popular with Victoria’s substantial Indonesian expat population” wishing to visit loved ones back “home.”

More than 270 million people live in Indonesia, and the country’s economy is expanding quickly. These additional flights will benefit both business and investment between Australia and its nearest neighbour and the economies of both countries.
