Bonza B737-Max
On Monday, Bonza’s inaugural flight departed from its Sunshine Coast home hub for the first time, carrying commercial passengers, including Bonza’s first customers and invited community members, to the Whitsunday coast.
Flights on Bonza, which went on sale last week, start at $49 and go up to $79, and the route is the first of 27 that will be progressively pushed out to a total of 17 destinations (one way).
The CEO of Bonza, Tim Jordan, expressed his company’s excitement at the prospect of bringing Australians together for holidays and family time.
Two of the most popular tourist spots in the country are a great place to begin. We are honoured to transport you to the Whitsunday Islands to go snorkelling or to the Sunshine Coast, known as “Australia’s Craft Beer Capital.” The demand for today’s historic trip is excellent because Australians are eager to see more of their backyard.
In order to fulfil Bonza’s goal of opening up untapped regional tourism markets, he is overjoyed to be able to help out previously underserved communities. Jordan also disclosed that since the app went on sale a few days earlier, over 10,000 tickets had been purchased by eager Australians (and counting).
He explained that the airline’s first passengers will experience “a new way of flying” in which “we maintain the bar high on quality, and we keep our expenses low.”
Fly Bonza app users may request an all-Australian meal to be served to their seats at any time during the flight. Food and drink providers from around the country were invited on today’s flight, along with local menu partners participating in future regional debuts of Bonza.
The CEO of the Sunshine Coast Airport, Andrew Brodie, called the launch of Australia’s newest low-cost airline, Bonza, “a remarkable day for the Sunshine Coast.” The inaugural flight was bound for the Whitsundays, making that and other incredible destinations much more accessible to the average Australian.
With Bonza’s new services, the airport and surrounding area may expect an influx of 772,000 passengers and an increase in tourist spending of over $86 million in the next year.
Our cooperation with Bonza is only the beginning of what we hope will be a prosperous future filled with the addition of more destinations to our airport that will boost the local economy through increased tourism and creating jobs.
