As part of the line’s 150th-anniversary festivities, Holland America Line has unveiled a new ‘Heritage Cruises’ programme comprising over 50 cruises revisiting historic ports.
Guests will be fully immersed in celebrating the brand’s heritage in cities such as Rotterdam, which has an intertwined relationship to the company’s beginnings; Skagway and Juneau, which introduced the globe to explore Alaska by ship; as well as Sydney, Melbourne, and Hobart.
The 48 Heritage Cruises will be introduced throughout next year, with unique itineraries calling at 56 ports in Alaska, the Caribbean, Northern Europe, the Mediterranean, New Zealand, Hawaii, South America, and Mexico.
The cruises will also include special onboard experiences, including a Throwback Happy Hour with select beverages as cheap as 75 cents; a special Dutch High Tea with sweets like oliebollen, speculoos, and tiny bossche bol; and classic Holland America Line cruise activities like sjoelen and trivia.
Regional beverages and culinary items will also be on board, bringing each destination to life. “As a cherished company that has been operating for 150 years, these exceptional Heritage Cruises allow us to continue commemorating Holland America Line in a meaningful way with our customers,” said President Gus Antorcha.
“We have a strong relationship with ports worldwide, and we’re pleased to demonstrate how each selected place has influenced our brand.” The Heritage Cruises join a variety of experiences Holland America has already launched to commemorate its 150th anniversary, including a one-night Captain’s Gala Menu in the Dining Room with a selection of classic dishes; the line’s new exclusive Holland America Line ‘De Lijn’ gin, which will be featured in three new anniversary cocktails; and Holland America Line Pils, a limited-edition beer.
The event will culminate in a 150th Anniversary Crossing from New York City to Rotterdam in April 2023, concluding on April 18, Holland America Line’s 150th birthday.
