Ovation Of The Seas in Sydney
Royal Caribbean’s brands promise that poor internet connectivity at sea will be a thing of the past. They just announced that they are fully committing to Elon Musk’s SpaceX Starlink satellite internet service, which will provide guests with Wi-Fi connections in their cabins that are just as fast and reliable as those they enjoy at home.
The service will debut on Celebrity’s newest ship, Celebrity Beyond, on September 5. According to a press release from Celebrity Cruises, it will be available to the rest of the Celebrity fleet by the end of the year. By May 2023, all Royal Caribbean and Silversea Cruises vessels will have the required hardware installed to offer the service.
Over 3,000 small satellites have been launched by Starlink into low Earth orbit, with plans for another 10,000 to be launched to cover the entire planet with Internet access.
