Explora Journeys has reached a major milestone with the delivery of EXPLORA III, a ship that feels less like an upgrade and more like a statement. As the first LNG-capable vessel in the fleet and the most spacious yet, she pushes the brand’s vision of ultra-elegant ocean travel into a more refined, future-ready chapter.
For luxury travellers, the appeal is immediate. EXPLORA III is designed to deliver more privacy, more comfort, and more breathing room, while keeping the guest count similar to her sister ships, which is exactly the sort of equation high-end cruising should aim for.
A more spacious experience

At 19.2 metres longer than the earlier ships, EXPLORA III introduces enhanced public areas, expanded culinary and wellness spaces, and a stronger sense of openness throughout the ship. The design also includes a second Owner’s Residence, a larger collection of Ocean Penthouses and Ocean Residences, and a reimagined wellness area that brings spa and fitness into one harmonious space.
That matters because space is the quiet luxury modern travellers notice most. On a ship like this, it means fewer compromises, more elegant corners to retreat to, and a more relaxed onboard rhythm overall.
Dining and design
Explora Journeys has also sharpened its culinary game with three new concepts: The Cellar, The Chef’s Table, and Shore Club on 11. Add in Chopard’s first boutique onboard and interiors shaped with Patricia Urquiola’s design sensibility, and the ship begins to feel like a floating private members’ club with serious style credentials.
It is a polished mix of craftsmanship and indulgence, and that balance is a big part of the brand’s appeal. Explora is clearly aiming for guests who want sophistication without stiffness, and EXPLORA III appears to deliver exactly that.
A greener step forward

Beyond the aesthetics, EXPLORA III marks an important step in the brand’s environmental strategy. She is the first ship in the fleet capable of using LNG, with future potential for bio-LNG and synthetic LNG, and she is also equipped for shore power so she can switch off engines in port where infrastructure allows.
That gives the ship a more future-facing profile without sacrificing luxury. In a market where travellers are increasingly attentive to sustainability, this combination of environmental technology and high design is likely to resonate strongly.
First voyages
Before her official naming ceremony in Barcelona on 1 August 2026, EXPLORA III will sail a five-night Mediterranean Prelude Journey from Genoa to Civitavecchia, calling at Marseille, Saint-Tropez, Villefranche-sur-Mer, and Livorno. The voyage is designed as an intimate preview of the ship’s suites, venues, and wellness spaces, making it a particularly appealing sneak peek for luxury travellers who enjoy being early to the scene.
After that, the ship will begin her maiden season with journeys across Northern Europe, Iceland, Greenland, and North America, before expanding further into Alaska in 2027 and Asia in 2028. It is a confident rollout for a brand that seems determined to make every new ship feel like a meaningful evolution rather than a repeat performance.
