Amankora’s Bhutan Lodges Return Renewed
Bhutan has a way of making the world feel quieter, and Amankora has long been one of the best places to hear that silence properly. This September, the brand’s Paro and Punakha lodges will reopen after a thoughtful wellness-focused renovation, bringing refreshed suites, new spa experiences and a stronger sense of retreat to two of Bhutan’s most distinctive valley hideaways. Reservations are now open, with both lodges set to welcome guests again from 15 September 2026.
Paro: Forest Calm, Elevated

Set in Bhutan’s Paro Valley at 2,250 metres and tucked into blue pine forest, Amankora Paro has always felt like a quiet pause between mountains and monasteries. The refurbishment deepens that sense of calm with a new Aman Signature Spa House, a Banya experience and upgraded interiors throughout the lodge. The Spa House sounds especially tempting: private hammam steam room, double treatment room, hot bath, cold plunge, outdoor pool and a setting that feels more forest sanctuary than hotel spa.
A new yoga pavilion among the pines adds another layer to the experience, giving guests a place for movement, meditation or simply staring into the landscape for a while. All 24 suites have also been refreshed with new timber flooring, ceilings, wall cladding and upgraded in-room comforts, while the dining and lounge spaces have been reworked to feel warmer and more intimate. It is the sort of update that makes a beloved lodge feel familiar, just more polished around the edges.
Punakha: Heritage With A Softer Touch

Further north, Amankora Punakha brings together heritage and wellness in a beautifully grounded way. Housed in a restored 300-year-old farmhouse, the lodge has been carefully updated to preserve its character while adding modern comforts and more restorative spaces. The new hydrotherapy facilities are a major draw, including a steam room, Jacuzzi, cold plunge, bucket shower and relaxation lounge.
The lodge’s 12 suites have been fully refreshed too, with upgraded timber finishes, climate control and thoughtful touches that make the rooms feel residential rather than formal. A new intimate dining room seats up to 18 guests, while the original altar room remains in place, preserving the spiritual heart of the farmhouse. That balance of reverence and refinement is very Bhutan, and very Aman.
Why This Refresh Matters

What stands out here is how restrained the renovation feels. Amankora hasn’t tried to reinvent these lodges; it has sharpened what already worked. The result is a more immersive wellness experience that still respects Bhutan’s traditions, landscape and spiritual rhythm.
For travellers chasing something more meaningful than a standard luxury escape, this is the kind of place that lingers in the memory. You don’t just stay at Amankora—you slow down with it. And in Bhutan, that may be the greatest luxury of all.
