Azamara Cruises has unveiled its epic 2028 World Cruise, a 175-night journey aboard Azamara Onward that will span six continents, 40 countries and around 100 ports of call, departing Miami on 5 January 2028 and concluding in Athens on 28 June 2028. Designed for travellers who value destination immersion, the itinerary features more late-night departures and overnights than any other world cruise announced for 2028, with 68 evenings where guests can linger longer ashore.
Route highlights across six continents
After sailing from Miami, Azamara Onward heads through the Southern Caribbean and Latin America, calling at islands such as Aruba and coastal ports in Colombia before a Panama Canal transit en route to Ecuador and Peru. From there, the cruise ventures deep into the South Pacific, with rare calls to Easter Island to explore UNESCO-listed Rapa Nui National Park and tiny Pitcairn Island, home to fewer than 50 residents.
Guests then enjoy overnights in Tahiti and Bora Bora before crossing to New Zealand and Australia, visiting ports including Christchurch, Sydney and Cairns. The voyage continues through Asia with calls in Indonesia, Hong Kong, Vietnam, Thailand and Singapore, followed by an Indian Ocean leg to Sri Lanka and on to Southern Africa, where South Africa and Namibia feature before the route curves north toward the Canary Islands.
From there, Azamara Onward traces a classic Mediterranean arc, calling at Morocco, Barcelona, the French Riviera and a series of Italian gems, including Rome (Civitavecchia), the Amalfi Coast and Sicily. The final stretch explores Croatia, the Greek Isles and Turkey before the world cruise concludes in Athens, Greece, on 28 June 2028.
Flexible segments and destination immersion
While the full 175-night voyage offers the most comprehensive experience, Azamara has split the cruise into 14 segments for guests who prefer a shorter section of the route. Each segment will include its own programme of enrichment and Azamara’s signature destination experiences, including late-night stays, overnights and AzAmazing Evenings, along with select overland tours to marquee sites such as Angkor Wat, the Taj Mahal, Bhutan’s monasteries and African safari lodges on select departures.
Life on board Azamara Onward
As a boutique-style small ship, Azamara Onward offers an intimate atmosphere with seven restaurants, cafés and lounges, a pool deck, spa and fitness centre, and a choice of staterooms ranging from interior and oceanview cabins to veranda staterooms and suites. The line emphasises personalised service and a relaxed yet upscale onboard vibe, designed to complement its long port days and destination-driven itineraries.
World Cruise Desk and added benefits
To support such an extensive journey, Azamara has introduced a dedicated World Cruise Desk, acting as a pre-cruise concierge for guests and travel advisors booking the 2028 voyage. This specialist team assists with flights, pre-cruise hotels, transfers and special requests, while full world cruise guests also receive a package of premium inclusions valued at over US$37,000 per stateroom, including onboard credit, Wi‑Fi, laundry, medical consultations and select pre-cruise perks.
For travellers seeking an in-depth, small-ship exploration of the globe with generous time in port and a high level of personalised support, Azamara’s 2028 World Cruise on Azamara Onward is shaping up to be one of the most immersive world voyages on offer.
