From January to August of this year, the number of Covid-19 cases in the UAE decreased by 62%.
According to Dr Farida Al Hosani, the official spokesperson for the UAE health sector, cases totalled 95,787 in the first month of 2021, but that number was reduced to 36,516 last month.
A total of 87.19% of the UAE population has received their first vaccine dose, while 76.12% have received both.
Dr. Al Hosani stated that the “significant decrease” was due to the country’s health system’s readiness, as well as the expanded scope of Covid-19 testing and providing the right treatment on time.
She also revealed at the weekly Covid media briefing that 87.19 percent of the UAE population has received their first vaccine dose, and 76.12 percent has received both.
Up until Tuesday, the total number of vaccine doses distributed in the UAE was 18,174,994.
“The health sector has harnessed its efforts and capabilities in terms of research and clinical trials to ensure vaccine efficacy. Today, we have achieved satisfactory and safe results in terms of national vaccine distribution rates. Therefore, we appreciate the public’s trust in the work of the health sector,” Dr Al Hosani said.
Earlier this week, it was announced that the price of PCR tests across the country would be set at AED50, a move that Scott Cairns, founder and managing director of Creation Business Consultants, predicted would “encourage additional domestic travel and once again provide a boost to domestic trade, particularly between Dubai and Abu Dhabi.”
Those who received the Sinopharm vaccine must also receive booster doses, according to Abu Dhabi.
In recent days, daily Covid cases in the UAE have dropped below four figures, while vaccination rates have remained consistently high. The total number of doses distributed up to Tuesday was 18,174,994, with a vaccine distribution rate of 183.76 doses per 100 people.
