Just weeks after launching flights between Perth and Bali on 20 March 2025, Indonesia’s TransNusa Airlines has surprised the Australian market by rebranding itself as a premium service carrier. Originally operating as a hybrid low-cost airline with an all-economy Airbus A320 configuration of 174 seats, TransNusa is now setting a new standard across its international routes.
A Bold New Direction
In a bold move announced recently, TransNusa stated, “TransNusa Airline… has rebranded itself as a Premium Service Carrier globally.” This strategic pivot to premium service isn’t just about a change in name—it comes with a host of enhanced inclusions designed to elevate the journey for Australia–Bali travellers.
Effective from 25 April 2025, all TransNusa international passengers will now enjoy additional perks based on the fare type they choose. Whether you’re after a basic experience or a more indulgent journey, there are three fare options on offer:
- Seat:
Guests receive a 7kg cabin baggage allowance, with meals, snacks, beverages, checked baggage, and seat selection available for purchase. - Seat Plus:
In addition to a 7kg cabin baggage allowance, this option includes 15kg of checked baggage with meals, snacks, and beverages provided. Standard seat selection comes included. - Flexi Pro:
Alongside the same 7kg cabin baggage allowance, passengers benefit from an impressive 30kg of checked baggage. Meals, snacks, and beverages are provided, with standard seat selection included. This fare also offers ticket flexibility—allowing changes to flight dates or times without a change fee (subject to fare differences) and comes with refundable fare conditions.
Passengers can pre-book their meals either during the booking process or via the ‘Manage Booking’ section on the airline’s website, making it easier than ever to customise your travel experience.
Convenience Without Compromise
TransNusa isn’t sacrificing affordability in this upgrade. The rebranding reflects the airline’s commitment to meeting evolving passenger expectations for added comforts—like included meals and more generous baggage allowances—while still maintaining competitive fares. For travellers craving a touch of premium service without a hefty price premium, this new model is a welcome development.
Rapid Growth and Exciting New Routes
Since initiating its Australian operations in March 2025, TransNusa has already been making strides in expanding its international footprint. Its Perth–Denpasar service marked the airline’s first scheduled international route outside Southeast Asia. Looking ahead, the airline has plans to increase the frequency of its Perth–Bali flights. Daily services are set to commence from 1 June 2025, offering greater flexibility and more opportunities for travellers to experience the beauty of Bali.
A Promising Future
TransNusa Airlines’ shift to a premium service model demonstrates its proactive response to the changing travel landscape. By enhancing its onboard amenities and streamlining the travel process, the airline is poised to capture the attention of discerning Australian holidaymakers. This new direction not only sets the stage for an elevated travel experience between Australia and Bali but also paves the way for further expansion across its international network.
For those eager to sample a more refined flying experience on their way to tropical paradise, TransNusa’s rebranding marks the start of a promising and exciting chapter in regional travel. Keep an eye on this airline—it’s clear they have big plans for the future, and you might just be the next passenger to enjoy the benefits of a truly premium journey.
