Star Alliance has once again been named the World’s Leading Airline Alliance at the 2025 World Travel Awards, marking its sixth consecutive win at the prestigious global programme. The accolade was announced at the Grand Final Gala Ceremony held in Bahrain and recognises the alliance’s continued focus on creating a seamless journey from booking to airport experience, connections and loyalty benefits.
Putting the customer journey first
Star Alliance CEO Theo Panagiotoulias highlighted that this latest recognition reflects the trust of both travellers and industry peers in the alliance’s approach to effortless, end‑to‑end travel. Across its member airlines and shared services, the alliance continues to invest in coordinated schedules, integrated loyalty programmes and shared lounges to make global travel feel more connected and intuitive for passengers.
LAX lounge crowned North America’s best again
Earlier in the year, the Star Alliance Los Angeles International Airport lounge was named North America’s Leading Airport Lounge for the sixth year running at the World Travel Awards. The lounge is widely regarded for its spacious design, indoor–outdoor terrace, and focus on comfort and service, all of which contribute to the alliance’s premium ground experience.
These repeated honours reinforce the importance of lounges within Star Alliance’s strategy, offering frequent flyers and premium customers a calm, high‑quality environment that bookends long‑haul journeys. Features such as dedicated workspaces, dining options and relaxing social areas support the alliance’s promise of a smoother, more enjoyable travel day.
About the World Travel Awards
The World Travel Awards, now in their 32nd year, were established in 1993 to recognise excellence across the global travel, tourism and hospitality sectors. Winners are chosen through a worldwide voting process that includes qualified travel industry executives as well as consumer travel buyers, giving the awards a strong mix of professional and traveller insight.
Being named World’s Leading Airline Alliance is considered one of the top honours in aviation, reflecting consistently high performance in areas such as network reach, service quality, innovation and customer satisfaction. This year’s result underscores Star Alliance’s position as a benchmark for integrated, multi‑airline travel.
Member airlines share in the success
In addition to the alliance‑level recognition, several Star Alliance member airlines secured individual World Travel Awards titles in 2025. These included honours such as World’s Leading Airline to Asia and World’s Leading Airline to Europe, demonstrating the strength and service standards of the alliance’s global network.
Collectively, these awards highlight how Star Alliance and its member carriers work together to deliver a consistently high‑quality experience for travellers worldwide, from regional specialists to global flag carriers.
