Qatar Airways is now the largest airline to work with Starlink, and very soon, the airline will provide complimentary high-speed, low-latency internet access onboard specific aircraft and routes.
The Starlink service will complement Qatar Airways’ 5-star onboard experience. Passengers can experience ultra-fast Wi-Fi speeds of up to 350 Megabits per second once the service is activated. It can be utilised for several internet-based activities such as video streaming their favourite entertainment and sports videos, gaming, enriched web browsing, and much more.
As a leading 5-star airline in the world, Qatar Airways remains committed to providing the best passenger experience aboard, and the collaboration with Starlink will provide customers with a rich, seamless Wi-Fi connectivity experience with simple one-click access. The high-speed, low-latency network is powered by SpaceX’s groundbreaking Starlink satellite communications system, the world’s biggest satellite internet network. Qatar Airways and Starlink are now in the pre-launch phase of the Qatar Airways fleet rollout strategy.
His Excellency Mr. Akbar Al Baker, Group Chief Executive of Qatar Airways, said, “Qatar Airways is proud to announce its agreement with Starlink to provide seamless and complimentary Wi-Fi to its global passengers.” This exciting collaboration coincides with our industry-leading approach to technological adoption and is an unmissable opportunity for Starlink to connect our global passengers. We are excited for our customers to benefit from this cutting-edge innovation to Qatar Airways’ in-flight experience.”
“Qatar Airways continues to lead the way in prioritising the passenger experience,” said Jonathan Hofeller, SpaceX’s Vice President of Starlink Commercial Sales. “With Starlink set to support the entire Qatar Airways fleet, passengers travelling between over 160 destinations around the world will be able to stay connected with the most advanced high-speed internet service from space.” Indeed, as passengers board the plane, the internet functions flawlessly throughout their trip from gate to gate, all from the comfort of their seats.”
Starlink connects users all around the world to high-speed, low-latency internet. Qatar Airways is the latest and largest airline to partner with Starlink. JSX, Hawaiian Airlines, airBaltic, and ZIPAIR are also using it.
