Qatar Airways has announced a dynamic three-year partnership with MotoGP, becoming the Official Airline Partner and Qatar Airways Cargo as the Official Cargo Airline Partner. This strategic alliance, announced ahead of the French Grand Prix at Le Mans, builds on the success of the Qatar Airways Grand Prix 2024 and solidifies Qatar’s position as a burgeoning hub for motorsports.
The partnership was ceremoniously unveiled at the Lusail International Circuit, graced by dignitaries including H.E. Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa bin Ahmed Al-Thani, Qatar’s Minister of Sports and Youth, and key figures from Qatar Airways and Dorna Sports. This collaboration marks a significant milestone for Qatar Airways Cargo, the world’s leading cargo carrier, which will now facilitate the global transport of race and bike equipment for all MotoGP events.
Engr. Badr Mohammed Al-Meer, Qatar Airways Group Chief Executive Officer, expressed his enthusiasm, stating, “Our new partnership with MotoGP propels us forward, uniting the worlds of aviation and motorsports. The Qatar Airways Grand Prix of Qatar was just the beginning of what promises to be an exceptional journey for fans and racing teams alike.”
Mark Drusch, Chief Officer of Cargo at Qatar Airways Cargo, highlighted the carrier’s capabilities, “With our extensive global network and modern fleet, we are perfectly equipped to meet the logistical demands of MotoGP, ensuring that motorcycles and equipment are delivered seamlessly to global events.”
Carmelo Ezpeleta, CEO of Dorna Sports, welcomed the partnership, “MotoGP’s global footprint requires a partner like Qatar Airways, known for efficiency and excellence. Their support is invaluable to our personnel, freight, and paddock.”
Qatar’s commitment to motorsports extends beyond MotoGP, as it hosts various international racing competitions and exhibitions. The national airline’s vast network, covering over 170 destinations, including 88 in Asia alone, enables fans to connect with motorsport events worldwide. This partnership is set to enhance MotoGP’s reach, particularly in Asia, where the sport’s popularity is surging.
Qatar Airways’ dedication to sports is evident in its extensive portfolio of partnerships, including being the Official Airline of Formula 1, FIFA, The Asian Football Confederation, Paris-Saint Germain (PSG), Internazionale Milano, The Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), CONCACAF, and the FIA World Endurance Champions, the IRONMAN Triathlon Series, the United Rugby Championship (URC) and European Professional Club Rugby (EPCR), The Brooklyn Nets NBA Team, and multiple other disciplines including Australian football, equestrian, kitesurfing, motor racing, squash, and tennis.
