Oman Air will join the oneworld alliance, a procedure that should be finished by 2024 (so it will take some time). This news was made public during the IATA annual general conference, which took place in Doha, Qatar.
Oman Air announced its intention to join the oneworld global alliance last year. The Muscat-based airline was looking for Qatar Airways’ assistance in this endeavour. Qatar Airways is not only another airline from the region, but it is also a member of the Oneworld alliance. In fact, Qatar Airways’ CEO has been the chairman of oneworld for the past year, and one of his key aims has been to increase the alliance’s membership.
One of the three major worldwide alliances is the Oneworld Alliance. American Airlines, British Airways, Cathay Pacific, Japan Airlines, Qantas, and other major airlines are members of oneworld.

Oman Air is joining the oneworld alliance, which is expected to be completed by 2024. While Oman Air’s ambition to join the alliance was originally disclosed in September 2021, it’s great to see it finally happening. However, the process is slow, and Oman Air will not be a full member of the alliance for another two years.
