Oceania Sonata Inaugural Season: 22 Luxury Voyages Across Europe, the Caribbean and the Americas (2027–2028)

Oceania Cruises has unveiled the maiden season for Oceania Sonata, the first ship in its all‑new Sonata Class, debuting in August 2027 with 22 sailings visiting more than 90 destinations between Europe, the Caribbean, Mexico, and Central and South America. Bookings open 28 January 2026, with itineraries ranging from 7 to 16 days and a strong focus on longer port days, overnights and destination‑driven experiences.​

A New Sonata Class Flagship

Oceania Sonata ushers in a new generation for Oceania Cruises, accommodating 1,390 guests cared for by 855 crew on the most spacious and amenity‑rich ship in the fleet to date. Around 30 percent of accommodations will be suites, and Sonata will deliver more space per guest than the line’s previous newbuilds, creating wider corridors, calmer public areas and an overall more relaxed onboard atmosphere. As with the rest of the fleet, the emphasis remains on small‑ship luxury, destination immersion and “The Finest Cuisine at Sea”, supported by one chef for every eight guests and an unusually high share of crew dedicated to culinary operations.​

Inaugural Mediterranean and Europe Voyages (Aug–Nov 2027)

Sonata’s maiden voyage departs Rome (Civitavecchia) on 7 August 2027 on a 14‑day “Mediterranean Collage” sailing to Trieste, calling at a mix of iconic and lesser‑known ports. Highlights include Salerno and Catania in Italy, Valletta in Malta, a string of Greek islands such as Paros, Mykonos and Corfu, plus Bar in Montenegro and Split and Zadar in Croatia.​

Other headline European itineraries in the inaugural season include:​

• Summer’s End Sailaway – Barcelona to London (Southampton), 10 days (30 Aug 2027)
  Visiting Palma de Mallorca, Seville (Cádiz), Lisbon, Oporto, La Coruña, Bilbao and Bordeaux (Pauillac) before finishing in Southampton.
• Greeks & Byzantines – Athens to Istanbul, 7 days (14 Oct 2027)
  A week across the Aegean with calls at Paros, Heraklion, Rhodes and Patmos, then Izmir and an overnight in Istanbul.
• Additional European routes will link cities such as Barcelona, Athens and Lisbon with smaller ports including Koper, Sarandë, Palamós and Paros, often featuring overnight stays in Istanbul, Livorno (for Florence/Tuscany) and Bordeaux for deeper cultural and culinary immersion.​

Transatlantic and First Tropical Season (Nov 2027–Apr 2028)

After her Mediterranean programme, Oceania Sonata will cross the Atlantic to begin a tropical season from Miami. Sample itineraries include:​

• Rose‑Hued Palaces & Playas – Barcelona to Miami, 14 days (18 Nov 2027)
  Calling at Alicante, Granada (Motril), Seville (Cádiz), Funchal (Madeira) and Royal Naval Dockyard in Bermuda before arriving in Miami.
• Halcyon Holidays – Miami to Los Angeles, 16 days (19 Dec 2027)
  A festive‑season voyage via George Town (Grand Cayman), Cartagena (Colombia), a daylight transit of the Panama Canal, Puntarenas (Costa Rica), Puerto Quetzal (Guatemala), Zihuatanejo/Ixtapa and Manzanillo (Mexico) and Ensenada, before concluding in Los Angeles.​

Across her Caribbean and Americas deployment, Sonata will visit favourites like Bridgetown (Barbados) and Tortola (British Virgin Islands), as well as less‑visited ports including Puerto Quetzal and Zihuatanejo‑Ixtapa, aligning with Oceania’s focus on mixing headline destinations with hidden gems.​

New Culinary Concepts: La Table and Nikkei Kitchen

Oceania Sonata will debut the line’s most diverse culinary line‑up yet, with 13 included dining experiences and two headline new venues: La Table par Maîtres Cuisiniers de France and Nikkei Kitchen.​

• La Table par Maîtres Cuisiniers de France
  Touted as the most exclusive fine‑dining restaurant at sea, La Table will be the only venue launched with the official endorsement of the Maîtres Cuisiniers de France, the prestigious association dedicated to preserving French culinary arts. Seating just 18 guests per evening, it will offer multi‑course menus developed by Master Chefs of France, with a wine‑focused experience and a supplement applying for the intimate service.​
• Nikkei Kitchen
  An evening restaurant celebrating Nikkei cuisine, fusing Peruvian flavours—such as citrus, peppers and fresh seafood—with refined Japanese techniques and umami‑rich sauces. The bright, open‑kitchen space will be a capacity‑controlled, first‑come dining experience included in the fare, reflecting Oceania’s philosophy of specialty dining at no extra cost.​

These new venues sit alongside Oceania favourites like Red Ginger, Toscana, Polo Grill and Jacques, ensuring returning guests find both familiar and innovative options onboard.​

Enhanced Social, Learning and Enrichment Spaces

Beyond dining, Oceania Sonata introduces an expanded range of social and enrichment venues. A new Opus Lounge just off the lobby will serve as a tranquil reading and meeting space by day and a chic bar in the evening. A larger Baristas café and enhanced Crêperie create more informal gathering points for coffee, pastries and light bites throughout the day.​

Experiential learning is also elevated, with expanded hands‑on culinary learning opportunities and the LYNC Digital Center to support digital enrichment, creative workshops and destination‑focused programming.
