MSC Euribia, as an LNG-powered ship, is another step forward towards MSC Cruises in significantly decreasing glasshouse gas emissions. LNG plays an integral part in the fight against climate change, reducing CO emissions by up to 25% on MSC Euribia compared to regular fuels while eliminating other air pollution.
MSC Euribia’s emissions will be decreased more when bio and synthetic fuels become accessible. LNG is critical to developing low-carbon shipping solutions. Emerging technologies like fuel cells can run on LNG until zero-emission bio-LNG or green hydrogen becomes accessible at scale. MSC Cruises is actively participating in several initiatives to develop and commercialise these technologies in collaboration with regulators, universities, shipyards, and industry.
To reduce the impact of vibrations on marine life, MSC Euribia will use an innovative wastewater treatment system and an underwater radiated noise control system. Many energy-saving features assist in decreasing and optimising engine usage.
