Fiji Airways will add Canada to its list of destinations in November, bolstering its North American offering.
Beginning 25 November 2022, the airline will operate two weekly flights between its Nadi base and Vancouver, using an Airbus A330 aircraft.
The route will make the carrier’s fourth North American airport service. Fiji Airways currently flies to Honolulu, Los Angeles, and San Francisco.
“Canada represents a new market with enormous potential for tourism, trade, and, of course, reuniting Fijian families,” said CEO Andre Viljoen in a statement. “Approximately 80,000 Fijians in Canada have not seen their loved ones in two years and are eager to fly home.” Fiji Airways now offers a more convenient way to do so.”
While restoring the airline’s pre-pandemic network is a priority, he added, expanding Fiji Airways’ route map is also essential. “Returning to the skies” does not simply mean resuming existing routes, according to Viljoen. “To strengthen and grow as a company, we must invest in new markets and solidify our networks.” Vancouver was an excellent choice for us.”
Aside from US routes, the airline currently serves four cities in Australia and three in New Zealand.
The Nadi Vancouver route, according to Viljoen, is ideal for serving the Canadian winter holiday market: “Our new route is strategically timed to offer Canadians a winter escape to a beautiful Fijian paradise, promising warm tropical weather, world-class hospitality from our tourism sector, excellent in-flight service with our cabin crew, and a comfortable modern fleet of aircraft.”
In addition, on 4 July, Fiji Airways resumed two weekly flights from Nadi to the Pacific Island nation of Vanuatu.
