Etihad Airways, the national carrier of the UAE, and Air Astana, the flag carrier of Kazakhstan, have officially launched a new bilateral codeshare agreement. The agreement offers enhanced travel options and seamless experiences for passengers across the Middle East and Central Asia. It further supports Etihad’s goal of welcoming more visitors to Abu Dhabi.
Expanded Connectivity
The new codeshare arrangement, effective 5 December 2024, enhances connectivity for customers of both airlines. It provides convenient access to 10 new destinations through Air Astana’s hubs in Almaty and Astana. These additions expand Etihad’s extended network, offering customers more travel choices and seamless connections.
Almaty: Kazakhstan’s largest city, renowned for its stunning mountain views, vibrant nightlife, and rich cultural heritage.
Astana is Kazakhstan’s futuristic capital, known for its striking modern architecture and dynamic urban landscape.
Simplified Travel Experience
The codeshare agreement simplifies the travel experience, allowing guests to make a single booking and enjoy a seamless check-in process. Baggage is effortlessly transferred to the final destination, enhancing convenience and ease for travellers.
Mutual Benefits
Etihad Airways’ VP Alliances and Industry Affairs, Jurriaan Stelder, highlighted the partnership’s benefits: “This partnership expands our codeshare network, offering our guests convenient access to 10 of Air Astana’s leisure and business destinations across Kazakhstan, as well as Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan’s vibrant capital, and Tashkent, the historic capital of Uzbekistan. Etihad guests can now enjoy the ease of booking connecting flights and checking in once for their entire journey.”
Air Astana’s network becomes more accessible to Etihad’s customers, who can connect via recently launched nonstop flights from Kazakhstan to Abu Dhabi. Similarly, Air Astana passengers gain access to Etihad Airways’ flights, unlocking new travel experiences to India, Bahrain, and Oman. The seamless connections in Abu Dhabi ensure a smooth travel experience for passengers.

Zhanna Shayakhmetova, VP Marketing & Sales at Air Astana, expressed enthusiasm for the partnership: “We are excited to partner with Etihad Airways, offering our passengers enhanced travel options and convenient access to a broader network. This collaboration reflects our commitment to providing passengers with exceptional and comfortable travel options, while maintaining the highest standards of service and safety.
