The prestigious Ponant Explorer class vessel, Le Jacques-Cartier, has graced the port of Darwin for the first time, heralding the commencement of an exhilarating Kimberley season. Fresh from her inaugural 2024 Japan tour, the luxury ship is now poised for 13 exclusive departures between May and September 2024.
Deb Corbett, Ponant’s General Manager of Sales & Marketing for Asia Pacific, expressed excitement over the new addition to the region: “Le Jacques-Cartier’s arrival in Darwin marks the beginning of an exciting Kimberley season, having a new ship in the region.”
A Commitment to the Environment
Le Jacques-Cartier isn’t just any cruise ship; it carries the prestigious Underwater Radiated Noise—Controlled rating certification from Bureau Veritas. This accolade is a testament to the ship’s advanced design, which prioritizes environmental preservation, especially in underwater habitats.
“Le Jacques-Cartier exemplifies Ponant’s dedication to reducing our impact on marine life. She’s perfectly equipped to navigate the sensitive ecosystems of the Kimberley,” said Corbett.
An Unforgettable Journey
The ship’s itinerary is a dream for adventure seekers: an 11-day expedition from Darwin to Broome, traversing some of the planet’s most pristine landscapes. Passengers will encounter the raw beauty of the Hunter River’s mangroves and saltwater crocodiles, marvel at the King George River, and gaze upon the Twin Falls, Western Australia’s tallest waterfalls.
The journey also includes Ashmore Reef, a sanctuary for vibrant corals and marine life, and the Lacepede Islands, where nesting birds and turtles abound.
Luxury Meets Wilderness
Le Jacques-Cartier, one of six Ponant Explorer class ships, is a marvel of modern engineering with its sleek design and eco-friendly technology. With room for just 184 guests and a crew of 118, the ship promises an intimate and luxurious Kimberley experience. Onboard amenities include spa treatments, gourmet dining, and balconies for every stateroom and suite, ensuring guests are immersed in the wilderness in comfort.
Travellers can still seize a 25% Ponant Bonus on select Kimberley 2024 itineraries, adding even more allure to this once-in-a-lifetime expedition.
Beyond the Kimberley
After the Kimberley season concludes, Le Jacques-Cartier will embark on voyages to Indonesia and East Timor, eventually winding down the year with explorations of Tasmania and Australia’s southern coast, continuing Ponant’s legacy of combining luxury with adventure.
