Cathay Pacific has officially reopened The Bridge, its much-loved lounge at Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA), marking the first step in a major lounge enhancement plan for the airline’s home hub. With a fresh redesign that blends familiar favourites with new features, The Bridge continues to provide customers with a premium, relaxing retreat before their flights.
A New Era for Cathay’s Lounge Experience
The reopening of The Bridge signals the beginning of Cathay Pacific’s wide-ranging improvements to its lounge network in Hong Kong and beyond. Following this milestone, the airline will embark on renovations at The Wing, First, which will temporarily close on 23 May and reopen in 2026, followed by a refresh of The Wing, Business. During this transition, customers can still enjoy the elevated hospitality at The Bridge, The Pier, First, and The Pier, Business lounges.
For Business class passengers, The Deck lounge will also undergo enhancements and temporarily serve as an interim First class lounge from 21 May, ensuring a seamless premium experience throughout the refurbishment process.
Cathay Pacific’s ambitious plans extend far beyond Hong Kong, with new flagship lounges set to debut in Beijing and, for the first time, New York, as part of the airline’s HK$100 billion investment into new aircraft, cabin products, lounges, and digital innovations.
A Human-Centric Design Approach

Strategically located near Departure Gate 35 at HKIA Terminal 1, The Bridge has been meticulously designed to prioritise comfort and sophistication. General Manager of Customer Experience Design, Guillaume Vivet, emphasised the airline’s commitment to creating a warm, residential ambience through thoughtfully chosen materials, aesthetics, scent, and music, fostering a tranquil retreat for guests.
The cherry wood panelling, black granite, and travertine materials, paired with carefully selected artworks and greenery, establish an elegant yet homely environment, ensuring passengers feel truly valued and cared for.
Enhanced Dining and Relaxation
The Bridge lounge is divided into two distinct spaces, each offering unique culinary and relaxation experiences:
- The Left Wing: A celebration of Chinese cuisine, featuring Cathay Pacific’s signature Noodle Bar, serving classics like wonton noodles, dan dan noodles, and dim sum, alongside exciting new regional dishes. This side also introduces The Nook, a cosy addition featuring curated Chinese small plates, including savory filled bao, crispy scallion pancakes, and steaming rice rolls.
- The Right Wing: Designed for First class passengers and Cathay Diamond members, this wing provides an intimate setting with personalised service. It houses the Food Hall, which boasts elevated oven-to-plate offerings, such as beef bourguignon, Provençal vegetable bakes, and freshly baked pastries.
Guests can also unwind at The Bar, where panoramic runway views accompany expertly crafted cocktails, barista-made coffees, and Champagne, with engaging conversations led by Cathay’s skilled bartenders.
A Glimpse Into the Future: Biometric Check-In

In an effort to streamline the lounge experience, Cathay Pacific will soon introduce biometric check-in at The Bridge, making it the airline’s first lounge to adopt this cutting-edge system, while retaining a traditional check-in desk for added convenience.
The Bridge: A Lounge Experience Redefined
With a fresh new look, elevated dining, and human-centric design, The Bridge stands as a hallmark of Cathay Pacific’s dedication to premium travel. Whether indulging in regional delicacies, sipping handcrafted cocktails, or simply unwinding in a serene atmosphere, customers can expect a memorable pre-flight experience that sets the tone for their journey ahead.
