Bringing the rich heritage of Chinese cuisine to the skies, Cathay Pacific has unveiled its new ‘Chinese Classics’ menu, inspired by the Eight Great Cuisines of China. This exciting addition to the airline’s inflight experience complements its existing ‘Hong Kong Flavours’ and ‘International Favourites’, redefining premium airline dining for its Business Class customers.
A Culinary Journey Across China
With a deep appreciation for China’s diverse gastronomy, Cathay Pacific introduces dishes from Sichuan, Fujian, Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Shandong, Guangdong, Anhui, and Hunan, ensuring guests savour an authentic taste of tradition while flying across the world.
Understanding the unique challenges of inflight catering, Cathay’s culinary team has meticulously refined ingredients and cooking techniques to preserve flavour and quality at high altitudes. The result? A multi-layered dining experience, showcasing the best of regional Chinese cuisine with exceptional taste and visual appeal.
Exclusive Tasting Event Showcases Innovation
On 28 May, Cathay Pacific hosted a special tasting event, highlighting the creative process behind the new menu. Culinary design chefs shared their expert insights, offering attendees a glimpse into the artistry and craftsmanship that goes into each dish.
“At Cathay Pacific, we are passionate about sharing China’s rich culinary heritage with our customers,” said Cathay Director Customer Travel, Erica Peng. “‘Chinese Classics’ complements our other inflight dining options, offering travellers a comforting taste of home wherever they fly with us.”
A World-Class Inflight Dining Experience
Since April 2025, the ‘Chinese Classics’ menu has been progressively introduced on selected routes from Hong Kong to the Chinese Mainland, with new dishes debuting each month. By 2026, the entire selection—spanning all eight regional cuisines—will be available across a wider network and additional cabins.
To further celebrate Chinese culinary excellence, Cathay Pacific will launch a three-part documentary series in July, giving customers an exclusive look at the design, cultural roots, and creativity behind these dishes.
Investing in a Seamless Travel Experience
Beyond inflight dining, Cathay Pacific continues to enhance service quality, committing over HK$100 billion to fleet upgrades, lounges, and digital innovations. With The Bridge Lounge at Hong Kong International Airport now fully redesigned and new lounge openings planned for Beijing and JFK, the airline is strengthening its premium travel experience from ground to sky.
By August 2025, Cathay Pacific will introduce 100% seatback entertainment and high-speed inflight Wi-Fi across its fleet, ensuring seamless connectivity for all travellers.
Fly and Savour the Best of Chinese Cuisine
As Cathay Pacific continues to refine its culinary offerings, guests can expect a world-class dining experience that reflects China’s dynamic food culture.
